Ryan,

try these

Ando Chris and I are staying here

http://www.bathurstexplorersmotel.com/

Oh Ryan - PLEASE have ext gate for conrod!! haha

I will book there too then, let me know when you book.

I dont know if they will let me have the ext gate? it might be too loud? i took the car out yesterday and it sounds so shit now without it, and i don't really know when to change gears now. :O I am trying to sort out my CAI and front brake cooling this weekend and i am over it already. I am searching for ideas.

Did you get your harness sorted out?

Guys don't leave helmets etc in cars at night, take them into your room. Had someone tell me their car was smashed into and lost all their helmets, suits etc while they were there.

Before I bought the enclosed trailer, I was still carting my car around on the back of a truck & took daughter to movies there in the middle of the day and didn't even make the walk to the theatre before turning back to find my open wheeler covered in 10-15yo kids. Made me noiiivous.

Ryan - nah havent sorted out the harness. I'll leave it for bathurst.

Oh, we have booked!

so book book book haha

Michele - Always do already!

got a confirming email for supersprint on saturday ..... :P

thanks aza for giving me an idea ..... so i'll send the entry form for hillclimb tomorrow

and i will ba a turtle climbing up hill on sunday ...... LOL

Well i will be the whale coming down on Sat lol.

i was just wondering if any one new if there was any spots left eighter the hill climb or the super sprint

i cant get hold of the bathurst light car club and i was wondering if should waist my time sending of my sending of my entry

thanks tim

Tim,

Best bet would be to get a phone number off the sup regs, and give them a call tomorrow

Christine Wells is them one to speak with :)

ok thanks i was calling the number of the site ill tyr the sup reg for a different number

ive started filling in the form but i dont no if my car is a

type 3 over 3lt

or a sv over 3lt which class do youse run

and does any one no how big the fire extinguisher has to be ive got a 1 kg in my car at the moment is that big enough

thanks tim

only locally delivered cars are eligible for class 3 so unless its a 32 gtr you are in SV (from your profile looks like 33 gtr?)

capacity for gtr is 2.6 x 1.7 for turbos = 4.42l

hmm that is a tricky question.

we are 100% in on 2 small conditions

1/ the car is running

2/ there is a spare spot available by then.

I long ago gave up entering events hoping the car will be ready

Engine is finally getting sealed on Wednesday night, it has taken ages because the rules have changed, we even need to get the cams measured, placed in a sealed bag and picked up by the engine sealer. and head cc-ed. and deck and head height measured. all in addition to the old inspection and bore and stroke measurement.

anyway, motor back in the car next weekend. Then run in, tune and a big wheel alignment (all bushes changed since it was last run). As long as all that is done before the event sells out we will be there with bells on.

And if we do make it, it will be the first event running more than stock boost (12psi), we have finally been allowed to run a boost controller to ensure it stays to 12 psi for race events. Which means we can dial in some proper boost for this (say, 36psi?) or maybe just 18-20 lol

thanks for the help duncan

i just have one more question are you aloud to run semi slicks or do you have to run road tyres

You can run whatever you choose i beileve. Evil Weevil is running street/semis RT615;s, I am running full semi RE55's and I think VZSS is running full slicks or streets.

But this said it has been discussed which way is best to go. Reason being, a semi slick may not get upto temp/pressure in the 'lead up' and actual sprint. Unlike time attack on an actual race track, you dont get a couple of laps to get temp into the tyres.

Depending on how much temp you get into the semis it could be better to go a street version IE RT615's. I am going RE55's cause i dont want to go buy a set of street semis just for this event..... SSOOOOO in short, up to you and what you feel comfortable on...

yeah you only have about 1min to get everything up to temp. they at least let you do a ful sik burnout to warm the rears but it still wont be enough for medium or hard semis.

i'll be running yoko a048rs too so they might be warm by the end of each run. even cold i think they are better than street tyres, just run a few psi more than normal.

tyres will affect which class you are in 2(road)/3(semis)/4(slicks) if you are not in SV.

    • The engine stuff is Greg Autism to the Max. I contacted Tony Mamo previously from AFR who went off to make his own company to further refine AFR heads. He is a wizard in US LS world. Pretty much the best person on earth who will sell you things he's done weird wizard magic to. The cam spec is not too different. I have a 232/234 .600/603 lift, 114LSA cam currently. The new one is 227/233 .638 .634. The 1.8 ratio roller rockers will effectively push this cam into the ~.670 range. These also get Mamo'ified to be drilled out and tapped to use a 10mm bolt over an 8mm for better stability. This is what lead to the cam being specced. The plan is to run it to 6800. (6600 currently). The Johnson lifters are to maintain proper lift at heavy use which is something the LS7's supposedly fail at and lose a bit of pressure, robbing you of lift at higher RPM. Hollow stem valves for better, well everything, Valve train control. I dunno. Hollow is better. The valves are also not on a standard valve angle. Compression ratio is going from 10.6 to 11.3. The cam is smaller, but also not really... The cam was specced when I generated a chart where I counted the frames of a lap video I had and noted how much of the time in % I spent at what RPM while on track at Sandown. The current cam/heads are a bit mismatched, the standard LS1 heads are the restriction to power, which is why everyone CNC's them to get a pretty solid improvement. Most of the difference between LS1->LS2->LS3 is really just better stock heads. The current cam is falling over about 600rpm earlier than it 'should' given the rest of my current setup. CNC'ing heads closes the gap with regards to heads. Aftermarket heads eliminate the gap and go further. The MMS heads go even further than that, and the heads I have in the box could quite easily be bolted to a 7.0 427ci or 454 and not be any restriction at all. Tony Mamo previously worked with AFR, designed new heads from scratch then eventually founded his own business. There he takes the AFR items and performs further wizardry, CNC'ing them and then manually porting the result. He also ports the FAST102 composite manifold: Before and after There's also an improved racing crank scraper and windage tray. Helps to keep oil in the pan. Supposedly gains 2% power. Tony also ports Melling oil pumps, so you get more oil pressure down low at idle, and the same as what you want up top thanks to a suitable relief spring. There's also the timing chain kit with a Torrington bearing to make sure the cam doesn't have any thrust. Yes I'll post a before and after when it all eventually goes together. It'll probably make 2kw more than a setup that would be $15,000 cheaper :p
    • Because the cars wheels are on blocks, you slide under the car.   Pretty much all the bolts you touched should have been put in, but not fully torque up.   Back them off a turn or two, and then tighten them up from under the car with the wheels sitting on the blocks holding car up in the air.
