Hi guys'n'gals

not really Skyline related, but there's lot of tech/it type people around these parts... and asians :P so i figured there would be some mobile knowledge :D

my Sony Ericsson T30? (the pearl white one) went for a swim (in the kitchen sink) about a month ago and all i want to do is get my numbers/contacts off the phone.

My sim is currently in another phone and i've only now realised that after the sim gets full (bout 220 entries i think) the numbers are then saved on the phone so most of my numbers in seems are on the Sony Ericsson.

I've tried turning it on, and it seems to work, but the screen is like a washed out white and i can't see sh*t, so i can't read the numbers and write them down manually.

Does anyone know how to retrieve this info? Or a place i could take it to? the phone seems to still work, just that the screen is farked.

The phone does have bluetooth, not sure if that is of any help in this situation.

cheers

chinny

Install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite (on a CD which probably came with your phone, in the box) and follow the instructions that it gives you. Then, when the time comes, plug in your phone via the supplied USB cable and transfer your contacts (via the synchronise option) to your computer.

You should then be able to view your contacts in Microsoft Outlook - or whatever you told it to go to in the synchronisation options.

COmmiserations man. I once had a Sony-Ericsson 810W that set me back $850.

3 weeks later it fell off the side of the boat and into the (salt water) drink.

Although I immediately flushed and soaked it in 600mls of Evian, it never recovered.

3 of the charge pins coroded away.

Many months later, the Communications Clinic on North Rd, Ormond said they could replace the board & pins on it.

Still on the cards to do this as the phone was a cracker.

you said it seems to work.. if it can turn on then thats a start...

a few years back my mates little cousin decided to take his 8210 and drop it in the toilet while we were out... recovered it, washed it... and similar thing happend.. screen was all washed out and faded... cant remember where he took it but they replaced the screen and it was fine...

look around for phone repair shops or soldiering places... I once got a phone unlocked and screen replaced by this small store in an arcade on bourke st... can give you the addy, not sure if the place is still there though.

Fuck the Sony PC Suite garbage. Install MyPhoneExplorer. It'll read everything off the Sony if you install the USB drivers for it... SMS's... contacts, even your decently dialled and incoming calls list.

Hey, that looks pretty sweet. Sony Ericsson always freaking crashes for no apparent (real) reason when I unplug my phone, even though I eject it properly from the computer first.

I'll give that a look when I get home. Thanks! :P

thanks shan, i'll give it burl... IF i can find the cable :P i would like the sms's as well...

The one i had, T30 or whatever... i had since 2002 and was going fine until mid this year, so i reckon i had a pretty good run. Pre-historic phone by todays standards, but still did everything i needed it to do.

now, has Sony E changed it's data cables over the years???

At least your phone still turns on. Mine is totally dead. Dad decided to take my 8800 for a spin down the road with it on the back of his car. he got pretty far with it too before it fell off. now i got it back and its totally smashed up.

turns out the imac at home as bluetooth, whaddayaknow :P

turns out Macs are still shit and have a useless supply of programs written for it, ie MyPhoneExplorer...

i can get the iMac to recognise a Nokia 6230 that i'm using in the meantime... is there are good program, for mac, that will let me go in and delete ALL my sim #'s from the mac? Otherwise i'll have to go through # by # manually.

oh, can get the old wet SE to link up with a program called 'phoneagent' but the phone always seems to reset itself automatically before it can finish getting all the contacts >:D - so at this stage, i need to do it via the Nokia, but don't know a good management program for mac for Nokia

    • I replaced the whole clutch line with the chase bays braided hose, I think it removes that loop, is it the short hose that comes immediately off the slave or is there a drawing in the manual to find what you’re referring to? It was just re-bled when I upgraded to the nismo slave, old slave worked fine but I thought that might help, didn’t change a thing. It’s like the first half of the pedal is pushing air and then when it finally actuates the master the friction zone is tiny. Makes it practically impossible to launch the car
    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
