Guilt-toy Now Running On E85 !

Recommended Posts

Well i plan to use caltex eflex which is closer to E70 i believe as i have several of them not far from my place. Yes the main goal of the car is heaps of response, mid-range power is the main concern :D

Also guys i know this is probably crap but wtf is this? must be magical like an ebay chip :D

Bloody hell i'd be happy with anything around 270-280kw as i'll get bigger huffers on it one day to make more, but E85 seems to be the way to go if you want the best out of it. While i'm here, anyone used rochester injectors? fair few supra's run em for E85 and they are fairly cheap but will need a custom rail + plugs for my setup.

saw these the other day as well, wondering how safe they would be.. keen to throw something like it in the honda though I've been advised it could run lean

so from what i can find the injectors are 270cc, so a 350cc should be spot on...pretty sre they're an ev14 injecotr too, will get back on that after some googling

Most ecu's will learn quite well considering, especially the newer ones. Of course it's always better to run an EMU or similar but in an NA engine it won't do any harm. Latency shouldn't be an issue with the newer design injectors imo. Do it Artz and prove me right. lol.

The other option is to run a new Walbro 416 or similar and bump up the pressure on the stock injectors.

ok looked into it a bit..cant easily run a reg cause its a non-return fuel system..I Know the honda ecu is pretty tricky, runs dual widebands and has lot of self learning features whether or not this will work in my favour or against im not sure...Apparently they get upset when cats are removed

the thread i read where a guy just filled up with e85, said it was running 18:1 afrs...oddly enough it lost power on dyno but was faster than other cars the same...

Returnless fuel systems still have a reg in the tank normally. The self learning should be fine if you keep everything stock.

If you were planning to gain power don't bother. (unless you strap a turbo to it or bump the compression up to 15:1)

A nice bonus today when I went to fill up at United, they have decided to lower the price of e85 to 25c less than unleaded. (from 10c less) I ended up paying 96c a litre, it hasn't been that cheap ever as far as I remember...

Apparently United buying the ethanol processing plant in Queensland has filtered down to us plebs at the pump for a nice discount. :)

Serious? :woot:

Oh wait, i shouldnt get that excited as there is still only Caltex around here.... E70 it is.... I REALLY hope the E85 comes down in price so the popularity goes up so more stations are available...

There are 4 United servo's in NSW now, hopefully more will follow as they are pumping the Melbourne rollout heavily. Dont look if you don't want to get upset. lol.

Damn!

What is the current E content of the United stuff? How does it compare to E-flex?

    • There's probably an underlying issue with the A/C system too. I recently fixed mine, now it's fully control by the Haltech and car's factory HVAC controller  Have a squiz here:
    • And by the way, I've also checked the ECU diagnostic numerous times and got a bad O2 sensor code and initially an Ignition Primary code, which is why I replaced the O2 sensor and all the ignition components (coil packa, plug and loom). No codes have been coming up lately despite the ongoing issue.
    • Hey pber13, unfortunately still no luck. At this point the following has been done with little or no success: - Spark plugs replaced, gapped to 0.8mm - Splitfire coilpacks installed to replace originals - Replaced Ignition Coil/Coilpack harness with a new genuine nissan one - New fuel filter - Replaced AFM/MAF sensor - Injectors have been thoroughly cleaned with an online flush (without removing) - Upper engine and inlet decarbed - blew tons of black smoke out, cleared the carbon deposits from the top of the engine and exhaust.  - IACV removed and thoroughly cleaned with carburettor cleaner - O2 sensor replaced with new and genuine one -  Smoke test revealed no vacuum leaks - Healthy compression test of 160psi across all 6 cylinders Overall the car does run a lot smoother now, no backfires between gear shifts like it did originally... but the rough idle when warmed up is still there. It may not even be a misfire but simply a rough idle. Seems crazy to me that so many people have had this issue and seemingly no one has gotten to the bottom of it, or at least never bothered to post if they did! Hope you have more luck than I did pber13, I'm at a point now where I'm just going to try to ignore it unless it gets worse. Would love to fix it but I've genuinely run out of ideas of what it could be.
    • I got the full frenchys kit too. Really awesome kit. Easy to install my only complaint was the hardlines I think could be routed differently (I modified mine) but I realise the kit needs to suit multiple applications. This was the hard lines before I modified them. They were touching the wastegate pipe. I ended up reducing the distance between firewall and first bend. The made it so they tucked along the frame rail.
    • Deeve, I don't suppose that you've made any progress on this? My Stagea has the exact same problem, and just like you, I've read through as much as I can online, with no real progress. My car isn't throwing any codes at all, which is a little frustrating. I've changed plugs, checked the wiring and harness. A new MAF gets here next week, but I'm not hopeful it will solve the issue.
