Does anyone have a definite list of stations stocking E85?

I am working on a facebook group to get the word out on E85:

i did a service on the car after the 2 weeks of running e85.

The fuel filter was blocked. When i mean blocked i mean you really had blow hard to get any air going through the friggin thing. Now i have been lazy and have not changed the filter in about a year as well so that might have had something to do with it.

Another thing i noticed is the line between the steel fuel line to the fuel filter had cracks all over it, kinda feels perished, it will need to be replaced in the next week or so.

I also got 450km's to a tank of Mobil Synergy 8000 (98) over the weekend, mixture between freeway driving (300km's) and around town.

So yeah the difference in a tank of fuel is about 130km's

fuel filter would be as every page i've read says change your fuel filter after a tankful of E85, it loosens all the shit in your tank. perished hose would probably have more to do with the gigawatts he's running under the bonnet

did you check this stuff before? is t deff from the 85?

Nope. have not checked it in over a year  but i did read you need to check after you run e85. so i did.

Filter was soo blocked hey, ive never seen a filter so blocked before. EVER.

Yeah 3.74 gigawatts

nah... i think i have chucked it out tooo... just a standard ryco.. if i still have it i will find a way to hack it up :)

Guilt-Toy.

Did you cut the filter open to ensure it was blocked from gum and shit rather than the media collapsing?

Which brand filter was it? The usual ryco?

From another site , it's supposed to be the first servo on the left hand side past the Mechano set (intersection of Hume Hwy/Liverpool Rd and Woodville Rd) heading south . I believe it's locked and you need to go inside and see Sid who will check your car out for it .

I'd just like to be able to get it in my fuel containers so hopefully that won't be a problem .

I can understand servo owners being a bit concerned about letting people toss it in the tanks of cars not specifically designed to run it . In proper fuel containers it should be ok and relieve them of any legal dramas .

Cheers A .

Excellent thread, Guilt Toy. There is some very good info' in here.

It would appear, after reading your results, and info' on other sites, that the E85 'picture' is looking very good indeed.

I've elected to upgrade to 780cc injectors, which would appear to be more than capable of supporting mid 300rwkw based on your results.

The plan is to do a tune for 98, 110 Martini and E85. I'll be sure to post my results - aiming for sometime later this month (20th?).

hey mate

I think i played wow with your girlfriend a few times lol

Anyway i think once you play around with e85 you won't look back. its a great fuel to use because its too cheap :P post your results should be good.

Hey mate,

Ah yes, good ol' whatshername hey? :)

I'm certainly hoping that's the case. Will do.

I see in Adelaide there is a shortage of E85 and most the servos were sold out!

Hopefully the situation is rectified prior to the 20th. I don't need much, half to a tank will do - for starters.

you will go through a half a tank in NO time on the dyno ;)

you will go through a half a tank in NO time on the dyno :D

Thanks for the heads-up. I guess it stands to reason that dyno tuning to suit the E85 is going to chew through a fair quantity.

I have been told that E85 totally cleans your fuel system, even cleans the gunk out of your fuel tank.

So the fuel filter is needed to be changed very regularly until the system is completely clean.

Pretty soon most of the carbon will be out of the engine and your oil will come out as clean as it went in.

So i think a new fuel filter every 500km is on the cards for a while.

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
