O.k., just purchased the car and I wanted to give the car an oil change. Problem came about as I tried to put the drain plug back in. The threads on the oil pan are stripped and have been stripped. Does anyone know of a drain plug repair kit that I may be able to purchase instead of buying a new pan? I checked auto parts stores but they don't have any.

thanks,

mls

p.s.

the oil filter is so 'easy' to replace. :D All the wires in front of the oil filter didn't help either.

the best thing to do is drill the thread out and retap it bigger size then u have to get a bigger plug . u should be able to do that on the car after u drain the oil , use a magnet to colect all the metal shavings from the sump ( very important ).

When redrilling load the drill bit with grease to help catch chips anf is possible lightly pressurise engine with air hose to prevent chips entering sump.

Then wash out sump with the oil you drained (into a clean container) after using magnetic pickup thru sump plug hole to pick up any stray chips.
