hey all

after the worst day ever yesterday... well not really the worst, but it was pretty shit... i need a new water pump asap!!

ive searched through the forums only to find a "this person said this will fit" or "this will fit but this is different" etc.

im running low on cash, so i dont want to find out tomorrow that the one i got doesnt fit and have to get another one.. i also need the car asap.

i want to know, from someone who has done it.. what water pump you used... where you got it from.. what the part number is.. and maybe how much.

noone has a listing for an rb20..

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

ive had the car, not even a week, and i spent all yesterday finding another radiator after mine cracked, put it in, and then the water pump shaft decided to shit itself and sling the fan into my nice new 2nd hand radiator.. and my bike is on the fritz... im at my wits end!!

cheers

Linton

dude go into like sprints or an auto shop (sprints is in SA, not sure about NSW) and ask for a VL water pump. RB20s bottom end is the same as a VL

shouldnt cost too much, will be shit load cheaper then genuine :spank:

yeh i got an RB30 one and it fit straight up... absolutley no dramas. cost me $80 for an aftermarket one.. wanted to go genuine but nissan didnt even have one. will be getting a better pump when i have some more cash and more time.

NOTE: ALWAYS REPLACE YOUR WATER PUMP WHEN YOU DO YOUR TIMING BELT!! I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH THE BELT DONE, BUT THE WATER PUMP NOT TOUCHED, AFTER 4000KMS THE WATER PUMP SHAFT SHAT ITSELF AND SNAPPED AND THREW THE FAN INTO THE RADIATOR, COSTING 2 DAYS WITHOUT A CAR, A SATURDAY PULLING IT ALL DOWN AND $300 THAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SPENT. THIS WILL STOP YOUR CAR WHERE EVER YOU ARE... PUTTY ROAD... M7... F3... COULD BE JUST IN THAT SPOT WHERE YOU GET NO MOBILE RECEPTION..

cheers

It could be even worse, have a look at your old pump if you still have it, normaly the first thing to go is the seal and it leaks water from a little hole in the bottom of the pump, check to see if there is sillicon in that hole.

I just recently had to do my water pump so i did the belt as well, only problem is that one of the bolt holes you use to get the balancer off was stripped so it tokk us 4-5 hours just to get that off.

Another tip, NEVER buy a second hand pump, for all the work you have to go through to change it there is no reason to risk using s second hand unit.
