Hi guys

Well, went through regency the first time and I got 2 bloody pages worth of things to do to the car, to clear the defect. :banana:

If I had the time I would probably do everything myself, but I want the car on the road asap,

So, I was wondering if anyone know of a workshop that can do this type of work, maybe if you have had good experiences preparing a car for regency with them or something. Might need to borrow a few things off them as well, so hopefully someone that has all the stock gear for those situations.

Its nothing major, just lots of annoying little things here and there...

SMOOTH GARAGE!!!! i couldnt recomend them enough and they will hook you up no prob. plus regency is just down the road from their place.

there is another place on main nrth rd, but they are WAY to over priced and everytime ive been there ive left with a bill of over a 1k :banana: so i wont even say their name haha

i wasnt going to say their name but owell.

its a shame that they are so overpriced because they do decent work and are a great bunch of people! i just cant afford to go their anymore and come out over a grand less everytime for such small things!

The infamous list:

- Horn to operate (need a steering wheel that works)

- Number plates lights (rear)

- All lights to operate

- Pedal covers to be rubber (not aftermarket.)

- Tighten front seat belt buckle

- Brake fluid level low

- Replace left indicator (broken)

- Repair rust through battery tray+skirt

- Brake hoses to be secure (need some hoses that come with the fittings that go on the clamps)

- Remove rose joints on all rear suspension + front torsion bars (fit stock gear)

- Replace LH engine mount

- Replace split rack boots

- New Gearbox rear mount to be fitted

- Rectify brake fluid leak LH front hose

- Fit split pin to LH rear lower joint control arm

- Replace worn lower shocker bushes on rear shocks

- Rectify free play LH rear wheel bearing

- Engineer Hicas lock bar as well as rear lower control arm mount (been welded back to crossmember)

I can do a few of these things, but the ones in blod I want done by the workshop.

I am waiting on a quote from smooth garage, boostworx....well I dont have 5 weeks to get in, I want to do it next week.

Any other ideas?

hey mate,

we do this kind of work all the time, we just finished a very major defect on a customers 300zx

we have all the stock parts on the shelf so thats no problem, we can even take the car to regency and get it passed :)

if your still looking for a workshop to do the work let me know and il do my best to help you out

$250 to issue a certificate for a Hicas Bar??? f**ck that!

Looks like Smooth Garage are going to take care of it next week.

Well that answers the question I was going to ask so you can't have a hicas lockbar without it being engineered. Who did you get the quote from for the HICAS lockbar certificate? If its that much I may as well swap mine back to stock to clear defect and swap back afterwards.

I got that quote from Rory Thompson, they are real arseholes there, put the car in the hoist for 5 mins to have a quick look, I said I was going to think about it and look at other options, and he goes "just give us $30 for our trouble" :)

Yes you better put the stock back on to be safe.

going by your list a lot of the stuff listed it should have been kept on top with if the car was mainted to a reasonable standed .

ie how can you drive and not know you have a broken engine mount things like like oil leaks .

lights not working worn shocky rubbers surley they must have been knocking a bit ?. not meaning to be rude but i see cars like this every day where i work what makes your skyline any better than a vn commy with the same probs .

it may be a blessing in disguise you got pulled over at least you will have a safer car all round when it;s fixed

    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though 
    • $170K. I asked one of the guys there as a joke if that price was just for the passenger seat as it was where the price sheet was... he tried really hard to crack a smile 😄 He also mentioned that every single part of the car was inspected and either restored or replaced with a new or as new part, or made from scratch. The interior was incredible, every inch like a new car.
    • Time for a modernisation, throw out the AFM, stock O2s, ECU into the e-waste bin. Rip out the cable throttle, IACV, pedal, etc. into the scrap metal bin. DBW, e-throttle, modern ECU, CANbus wideband, and the thing will drive better than when it left the factory.
    • I agree, don't go trusting those trims. As I said, first step is to put the logger away, and do the basics in diagnosis.   I spend plenty of time with data loggers. I also spend plenty of time teaching "technicians" why they need to stop using their data loggers, and learn real diagnostics.   The amount of data logs I play with would probably blow most people away. I don't just use it to diagnose. I log raw CAN data too, as a nice chunk of my job is reverse engineering what automotive manufacturers are doing.
    • I'm aware, but unless you're actually seeing the voltage the ECU is seeing and you're able to verify the sensors are actually working I find it hard to just trust STFT/LTFT. I will say, logging the ECU comes naturally to me because it's one of the lowest effort methods of diagnosis and I do similar things in my day job all the time. Staring at 20+ charts looking for something that isn't quite right isn't for everyone. NDS1 allows you to log almost everything so that's normally what I do and then sort out the data later.
