Yeah, The guy from Banjo's used to own it. not too bad a car. plenty of money spent on it. has been crashed twice that i know of. was camera car for targa one year when it crashed. plenty of power, needs a tune to correct the idle. not sure of anything else that it needs. probab ly wants the front calipers upgraded to match the 4 spot rears.

I know it well...

It was a bought as a fresh import roadie back in '97 or so... it did Targa Tasmania four times from memory and finished deep in the top ten each time. Was sold in 2001(ish) when the then owner bought himself a 911 Turbo to rally. It sat around for a while with the new owner, but was developed into a very good circuit racing car during 2002/3 with decent budget. It should have won the state championship in 2003, but suffered turbo failure at the last meeting of the year.

The crash damage was repaired well (it slipped of the road at super low speed and went down a bank) so nothing to stress about, its only had the one off that I recall.

Most of the work during late stages of development was by Nizpro and before that Autotek in Hobart regardless of cost... not sure if its been the same story with the current owner though.

When it was sold to the current owner some parts that made it a really good thing including the front brakes were removed to reduce the purchase price.

Hope that helps.

I can't bond with 33 GTSt... they just feel remote and large compared to other 32/33/34 in GTSt or GTR... hence why my wife has it now!

What you need Troy is a silver unfinished RX7 SP knock off that I can't be bothered with anymore, so I can import an NSX to build up!

Edited by t01-100

I would have loved to have taken that off your hands Stu, pity you didn't want to get rid of it before I spent stupid money rebuilding the 180! Which, by the way, is giving me the shlts...

You should buy this: http://www.japanese-d1cars-export.jp/inven.../de0300214.html

Troy, aren't you moving to Europe? Don't go to the GT-R dark side...

Yeh was meaning to ask the Beer Baron whether you can import a late model Type R NSX!?!?

I am working in India at the moment and the plan is to spend some time in Europe next year with work. But if a car is going to be ready for me when i return i have to really start thinking about it now. Odds are i will just stick with my GTSt as a track car and get a cool daily. (Cossie :( ) But am keeping my eye out for an opportunistic buy.

That R33 has been for sale for a while and it seems a well built and neat car which is the most appealing thing for me.

I love RX7s, problem is unless the seat is mega low i dont think i would fit in one :bunny: Is it registered? Because thats the big thing, lots of nice cars but very few are registered

I reckon you would fit Troy, as long as there is no sunroof. I sat in Glenn Ridge's SP and I could squeeze in, and with the seat on the floor I even think I might be able to squeeze a helmet on :D

That 33 does look good though. I like the idea of buying a pre-done tarmax rally car. You know they're well prepped, and they're actually eligible for something. Wait, I'm starting to be convinced myself! :)

I remember seeing two NA1 (3.0) NSX Type R's for under 35k a year ago, NA2 (3.2) are lucky to be less than 60k.

Standard 3.0s with autos are high teens... so budget an extra 25k for squential box in those!

RX7 has Tas special interest (rally) rego so can be used 52 times are year... or you can swap the engine 52 times in one year, which ever comes first. No sunroof and no X in the roof of the cage to encourage resale when I'm over it... but I'm inspired in it again this week so might actually do something to it!

Ceramic apex seals... they are being stock piled by the pallet load

If I had the dollars laying about I could think of worse things than buying that 33.

I reckon keep the GTSt and by a Cossie... running that Cossie alone will keep your bank account feeling like you own a GTR anyway!

People keep telling me that a Cossie as a daily driver is a bad idea :P LOL i will have to suck it and see, it has to be better then the TVR which is the other option. Wouldnt dare track it, the GTSt is a relatively cheap banger for that...whether i want to get a proper track car or keep playing with a compromised weekend club / street car is the big questions?!?!?!

Dedicated track car is the way to go in my opinion Troy. After doing Haunted Hills on the weekend in the Clubbie, and constantly having the thought of "If I bin it, I'm walking 20km's to work on Monday" hanging over my head, it's just a lot more comforting knowing worst case you still have a car to drive if it all goes pear shaped.

Roy, keep the 32 and get a daily, your 32 is awesome!

But that r33 gtr is rather tempting!

Im always thinking of similar ideas....sell the 33, buy a dedicated track car already done, but I live in a unit and only one lug and yeah, just no room!

off topic....haunted hills? is that the new hillclimb thingy?

links plz?

**edit** just saw some footage on youtube, my god that looks unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,

Chris

Yeah, it's an awesome track. Very technical, and the first half is very intimidating! Especially "Oh Shit" corner. Apparently around 10 cars have been written off there in the last few months, and all on the same corner. We were the first group to go there without incidence.

Great track though, and the guys who run it are top blokes too.
