Recommended Posts

Finally nice weather, and time to burn,

so this is what I did today.

more here if you are interested

still tuning it, using the self learn feature with my wide band, to get it close,

I must say it's a steep learning curve, since i haven't done anything like this before.

How's the tuning going Nigel?

Has it made much of a difference to the car?

Hi Andrew,

Since the motor is still dead stock, the only difference I have noticed, is that it has just a little more torque, the reason I know this is that were I like there is a hill, that when I drive up it in 4th at 60ks, about 2/3 the way up it, I need to go back to 3rd, or it drops back to 50ks, but with MS It sits at 60 all the way, I know, not a lot better for the expense.

But When I bolt on my turbo (the reason I brought MS), I will be able to keep the AFR where it needs to be, and not lean out.

But my next step is to install EDIS, so I can control spark (my dissy's vacuum advanced is stuffed)

Still have lots of little projects on the go.

good stuff nigel!

beat me to it haha!

i have to put mine off for a while.... leaking radiator (yay) will look at alloy S13 item for replacement

I'd recomend getting a radiator out of an EL koon car - bigger and better from a 4lt and cheap as from any wrecker

Finally,

I have EDIS running with Megasquirt, in the end it was fairly easy to setup, just some nerves, (not wanting to fry my Megasquirt, you just need to follow the directions, and check what you have done for mistakes)

    • I installed it all myself,  It was really easy to install.  I got a professional to do the degas/gas.
    • Finally had some time after working on other projects to jump back on this thing. Pulled all 4 wheels to check the brakes over and lucked out, only needed to bleed them/change fluid to get everything working!    Took it for its first quick spin (around 2km) up the road and ran great! Sounds like I have a left rear wheel bearing that needs replacing and there’s a shake in the steering wheel but the tires are absolutely junk on this thing and had been sitting flat when I went to first look at the car so we’ll see if that’s the cause.   Tach randomly started working but I notice if my hicas light comes on the tach stops working 🙃 yay for electrical gremlins
    • Bunnings car park it is! if you buy the kind of dampers with the adjustable top on the strut you can see it, red, purple? So many options.
    • Yeh a meagre benefit, what strut tower brace are you using? Eventually all the suspension and tyres are done and you get to ... meagre benefits. Narrow end of the wedge, all that stuff.
    • Yeh not doing anything with spacers at all, ty for the info
