hey ppl.. I'm thinking of buying an apexi s-afc in the near future. I am getting my zorst done shortly (3" turbo back), and will up boost to about 11psi. Will the s-afc increase power on a car with these mild mods? I assume that it will need to be dyno-tuned once fitted with the s-afc.. has anyone had this done and how much did it cost? I'm looking at spending about $450-550 on a s-afc plus tuning ($??? how much do u think tuning will cost), would the performance gains justify the costs involved. I know the Power FC would be a better option, but budget won't allow for that :P

thanks in advance.

The S-AFC is a great cheap upgrade, but it can't fix everything. At the moment I've got 2 pretty big power dips up top which I'm fairly sure are partly timing related. It was somewhat fixed by putting on a stronger wastegate actuator, but it's still a little off. I'm sure a PowerFC will fix it once and for all, so one day when I'm feeling rich I'll sell the S-AFC and get a PowerFC.

If you're on a tight budget, the best way to do your ECU upgrade is buy a second hand S-AFC, then save up for a PowerFC or equivalent. Then when you can afford the PowerFC or whatever, buy it, sell the S-AFC, and use the money from the sale to tune the new ECU.
