As topic suggests, i'm looking for an underseat subwoofer for my R33.

Don't want to go all out and put a sub in the boot as i'm pretty much stripping out the whole car of all unnecessary weight.

I've got 6.5" splits at the front and 6x9's at the back. They both go hard, but i'm just missing that lower frequency band. I don't want a thumping hard sub that will blow my ears off but something that will complete the whole range of frequencies.

Where can I get them from?

Quality? Has anybody used/heard these in person?

I've come accross these just to put things in perspective of what i'm looking for.

Thanks in advance!

RJ

Focal make a good subwoofer they are more into sound qual then bass depth so thy have all the frequecies without makin it feel like ure sittin on a vibrator. the best is to go in and have a listen see what you like fow yourself, also it will b hard to fit a sub under a seat due to the depth of a sub the further away the sub is from ureslf the better quality =]

when you strip the interior its easy to mount a sub behind the actual seat

lol @ your username

Yeh pretty much everything is stripped outta my car ie: rear seats, Boot lining, spare tyre, sound deadening..bla bla..

lol @ your sig..

Focal..yeh they are pretty good.

There's enough room for an underseat sub. Or right behind the seats..

I know bout how low frequencies need more room to sound better. Thanks for the help dude.

people will probably disagree with me here, but if you dont want to much base, then dont bother with any sub. Just purchase a couple splits for up front and decent 6x9s for the rear, run them off a half decent amp and the system will be sweet as a nut.

Probably be cheaper that way as well.

This would probably be a good time for me to jump in.

JB Hifi sell something by QMax called invisibass. SQ is excellet. It is an active under the seat 6" woofer. It is suprisingly bassy. I've had one of those before (in my wagon support car and people hae been suprised when they opened up my boot and not found a 10/12 inch with massive box).

The Clarion unit is ok, but that ryda price is expensive.

The invissibass is about $279 at JB Retail. The last one I had was bought for $239.

Jaycar also have a response active sub. They are running them out. Currently $99 trade price. I've got one of those in my wagon.

Unfortunately someone stole my invissibass so I bought the response as a cheaper option.

The response does do a good job at filling in the lower end frequencies if you want some bass, but it is not as good as the invisibass. The reponse doesn't go anywhere near as loud. As you turn it up, it distorts pretty quickly and makes a 'poooof' noise. Whereas the invisibass would absolutely crank.

Another option you might consider is amplified 6x9 inch subs. I've installed those into someone else's car before and have also had good results

Good bass, as MANWHORE said. Go with that.

But just for a normal cruiser man, 4 channel amp or 5 channel Response amp from Jaycar should do u the trick.

5 Channel Jaycar

set of splits or decent 6.5 coaxials in the front

good set of 6x9's in the back..

and one invisibass seat sub.

All wired to the 5 channel.

It will give you some good tunes :)

Yesh..i like..a lot!

Thanks guys.

Yeh, i've got splits at the front, the new Pioneer Kevlars..they pump.

Also got 6x9's in the back, customised rear board..just fit in with the large magnet, had to fit them long ways...end to end facing front and rear of the car.

Invisibass..from JB hi-fi...will like to see these.

Do these have a built in Amp? as i only have a 4 channel Amp @ the moment.

Thanks for the help guys.

MANWHORE...i'm assuming you had an R33 to fit these under.

Unfortunately, these were not in my skyline, but they are/were in my wagon.

In terms of sound, it should sound better in the skyline since the cabin is smaller (the wagon has that whole massive rear section.

The jaycar unit is really cute and does fit under the skyline seat. People are actually suprised when I show them the size of the unit itself.

The invissibass is physically bigger. because it has a much better enclosure. I have not tried it under my skyline seat and I can't try it for you because some prick thought it would work better in his car than mine and stole it!

Yes - they're active - built in amp.

Just one thing i'd point out though. The invissibass does produce quite a lot of bass + the sound is relatively good.

BUT, it is not going to be crazily loud. If you're looking for a sub that will shake the whole neighbourhood, then this is probably not for you. If you were to jump outside of the car with the doors closed, you won't hear much.

That is exactly how I like it - enough for me, not for the rest of the world outside.

I had always thought underseat subs were for female pleasure only...

Oh..perfect.

Never thought of that idea.

I'll put it under the passenger seat for my misses.

What an ideas man..she'll love me for it!

And to MANWHORE. I agree, keep the sound inside not outside.

I'm the type of guy that goes for performance rather than looks.

Cheers for all the help guys.

I'l be busy this weekend at my nearest JB store in search/order for these Invisibass Subs.
