Gearbox Oil

Hello,

I was just wondering what brand and grade of gearbox oil you people use in your cars? I need to do an oil change. Do most use 75W90 grade? 75W80 grade? In the morning, when it's cold, I have great difficulty in getting the car into reverse (or first). I would like to try a different oil to get the gearbox running smoother in the morning. Once the car warms up, the gearbox is fine...although it can be a little notchy at times.

I have heard that RedLine is very good, but I can't find any. Does anyone know where I can get some here in Adelaide? I don't mind paying for it (cos I know it costs a lot), I just want to try it out.

I use the Redline Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil (it is green) and it is BLOODY fantastic!!! You can also buy an additive so put it in your diff too. I don't know where you can buy it here (someone once said try Autobarn or some specialist performance place on Magill Rd), but I get mine from Trent [email protected] at www.mercurymotorsport.com.au. He is in Queensland but he overnights oil and other parts to me no problems (and he owns an S15, so he is hella cool!).

there is also a gearbox place, phitzner i think in greenacres that sells Redline

The additive is Nulon G70. I found it helps for a month or so.....

Auto trans fluid works well to.

I found the best solution is "cant find it grind it " treatment.
