it would rust if it had water in it for a long time and very little fuel but would have to be siting there for a long time . have a look if rusted badly replace if only a little clean it up ,change the fuel filter , clean the pick up and keep an eye on ur fuel filter in the future rubish in it .

  • 9 months later...

im pretty sure i have the same problem as u... how did u end up goin with it ?

Also where is the fuel filter ?

I have taken the plate off at the back and the 8 screws... is it ok to take the hoses off too ?

I can sorta of see the tank and the fuel does look a rusty brown colour... Is that normal ?

Thanks for the info...

ummm, is it stating the obvious that your car may be running an aftermarket fuel pump that wasnt installed properly, and what you are getting is fuel surge, i bet it happens going thru roundabouts too.

If its the std fuel pump check that its installed correctly in the std bracket. Coudl be a problem with the pickup

In an R32 GTST with std ECU, does the fuel pump run at a constant speed/pressure, or does it ramp up based on rpm and load via a signal from an ECU...i ask because i know of an R33 that with a Power Fc had the fuel pump whining at idle, but when the std ecu was in itm at idle the fuel pump was quiet and it was only when under load that the fuel pump whined...so assuemed that based on load the voltage to the pump was increased
