I feel sorry for the people that have indeed paid if there are any..... I seen this thread/event on the lamboghni (*spelling*) forum and a few others too

Have the cops been told yet??

I attempted to contact the fraud squad and forward them the information I had collected. But I wasn't a victim, so they didn't want to talk to me as no crime against myself had been committed.

If anyone is genuinely going to contact NSW fraud because they are a victim, please get in touch with me as I have collected a couple of pages of info that may help.

Some more fuel for the bullshit fire.......

The Importer of Lamborghinis to Australia comfirmed that Jason Sinai did in fact work for Lamborghini for a couple of weeks as a sales cadet, not as "General Manager". There is a reason why his relationship with the brand ended......as well his previos employment with the other manufacturers he listed........he was dismissed...something to do with being a perenial liar. Not naming any names except for his, just passing on some more info.

Best of luck to all those who paid money, and i hope it works out, as i dont see too much defense in his case atm.

Yeah look, i sat back and observed this and other threads when i first heard about it. But to be honest, i knew this was BS from day dot.

Its a typical glam and scam guys. Maybe i know more about this sort of jig than others, but it set off alarm bells even just reading the thread title for me.

For starters, i thought it was completely illogical for it to be so 'grand'. This is Australia, the chances of finding the required number of people to front such large amount of money was NEVER going to work.

But to give some relief back to everyone.. If i set up this scam, i would have done it differently for maximum 'profit'.

I would have done it legitamately, except somehow altered the wrx that won the event so that i (or associate) won the million dollars.

I mean common.. There is way too many ways this can be scammed.. controlled etc

Its not hard to put a clause in saying no competitor is allowed to inspect the cars, then just make all but one car have restrictors or tuned ECU's making them slower.

And on top of that, i would want to see a warehouse full of WRXs, a full press conference and some BIG names behind it before i ever gave a single dollar to anyone.

I wonder how many countries this has been in?

And look as a slightly side issue before this event was even announced I'd already had a ripper drunken argument with someone who has already posted in here that our level motorsports and prize money just doesn't work. Even if this thing had gone ahead there was going to be issues down the track so hopefully this is the last we hear of these wild concepts. This was the main reasons I advised anyone who asked my opinion to stay away from this event in the first place.

I'm sure someone like Stu can back me up with that comment! But I really hope that anyone who has ponied up some coin for this thing gets it back - and then uses it for a decent motorsport event next year!

yeh i know what u mean, i couldnt swallow the concept when i first read it, my thought was it was either a scam or there was a big hidden catch. have to say, it was never the most credible scam, nothing really seemed to add up.

I also contacted Lamborghini (previous employment) for a character reference for Jason.

It wasn't positive and they weren't surprised to hear that he may be involved in a scam.

Seems he was terminated as a result of some other under the table deals. (not my words)

Is Jason still reading here? I'd be interested to hear you prove us all wrong. I'm an objective person.

Feel for you guys. I've been scammed before (albeit for car parts) and it's not nice at all. Hopefully the scale of this issue will prompt the police to do something about it.

I hear he's sent out receipts for payments and also emailed the online order form for the Tag watch over the last couple of days. Could this possibly be purely to keep people off his back and thinking all is good for a while whilst he makes a hasty getaway I wonder?

In my experience, stupid people dont have the sort of money he was asking for entries.

Someone with the kind of money he was asking aren't stupid enough to fall for this kind of thing...

Since the police weren't too interested in talking to me i've gone here: http://www.scamwatch.gov.au and lodged an online "report a scam" and filled out a heap of information.

This site is run by ACCC - Australian Competition & Consumer Commission.

I went to this site thinking that another avenue to explore would be the lack of a permit number for this competition. I assume that it is the ACCC who issues these competition numbers that you always see on the bottom of TV ads and hear on radio ads etc where prize money is offered. This is to ensure it's a genuine competition. I believe it may be illegal to run a competition with prize money, without these permit number(s). Permit numbers are issued on a per state basis, therefore he would need a number for each state. (Not sure if i'm 100% correct here.)

Anyway I just tried to ring Jason's numbers to ask if he has a competition number, but no answer on either numbers.

Department of Gaming and Racing in each state issues permits. You may find some of what has been committed would not need be covered by a permit as it would be considered a 'game of skill' with judged criteria to determine a winner- i.e. drive the quickest and win lots of money.

However, the Unique Cars prize entry may need one depending on what you need to do to enter. If it's a "tell us why you want to win in 25 words or less" comp, again, it's a game of skill with no permit needed. However if it's "call this number to enter the draw to win"- it's considered a game of chance and permit numbers for most states definitely needed, including in NSW and VIC.

It was the Unique Cars link in the original post that had me thinking this was believeable.

Plus the fact we've seen quite a few people try to run this kind of competition (mostly legitimately!) previously with decent prize values - Mopro ran something years ago with a supported season drive in a Konica Car, with lots of other prizes.

I'll laugh so hard if this actually turns out to be a real event, though its becoming more unlikely by the minute, and is coming damn near close to certainly being a scam by now
