Hi All,

Just bought myself a new car, the only problem with it is that it smells of fuel when driving sometimes, i thought that it might be engine related, but after getting the engine checked, etc. it was fine.

I filled up fuel this afternoon for the first time and noticed that the fuel restricter could pull right out, it wasn't in properly and the actual rubber seal is gone, could this be the culprit, i am pretty sure it is, and where can i get this fixed?

thanks

Kris

i think he's refering to the restrictor that reduces the size of the fuel opening so it only fits australian unleaded fuel pumps!!!

have seen similar issues with my filler, get alot of gases coming out when i first start the car, once on a hot day after filling it up, i parked and fuel actually came out and flowed down the inside of the guard and went everywhere! was even on a slop!!!

You could ring up one of the many compliance shops around, they should have plenty in stock. The restrictor is put in by them, they don't have them in Japan so it's probably no good to ask Nissan for one (although they might have them for other cars that might fit the same, like 200SX).

Should be a couple of bucks.
