Hey, i was wondering where do you install carbon fibre and do you think its really worth it? I mean is it even legal for a P plater to have carbon fibre installed on there car or is it allowed? Im from Victoria so the laws might be diffrent but yeah anyone know anything about the carbon fibre business?

Thanks!

hey dude... welcome to the site... I know your concerned about the vic laws so you posted in the Vic forum... but this is more suited to the cosmetic and styling mods thread... have a search through there and you will see there are tons of carbon fibre questions, bits and pieces...

but to answer ur question... if it is exterior parts that are replacing stronger metal ones ie...bonnet... boot...then basiclly no... its not legal.... although I have heard of a few parts that are appovable... but I cant confirm if a cop would pick you up that they would let you off because some of them are a**holes...

I know it would look nice.... I was thinking of the same thing once... but i thought about it... I'm a p plater as well, with a reasonably modded skyline.. do I really want to bring more attention to myself? maybe after p's... but that wont stop them giving you fines and crap for other stuff...

I think basiclly one of the only things you can be sure of that you can do is put a layer of carbon fibre sticker over your dash :P

Good luck with it.

Adam

It looks nice, that's it. Unless you’re looking to shave 1/1000th of your Mark Skaif beating laptime at Sandown don't bother, spend the money elsewhere.

Carbon bonnets are illegal - problem is that if you're involved in a accident that it changes the way the car crumples (apparently) and they can also shatter and cut skin.

In saying all this, a lot of people have them and I once had one, a bonnet looks ok but I would never bother with anything else like doors, boot lids etc unless you’re an Autosalon queen or a serious race driver.

ay mate, im on my p's too, my 2 cents are

carbon bonnets can look very sexy, but need to be done well will cost big $$ (which could be spend on other performance gains)

and draws uneeded attention to us (we get pulled over because we look different and stand out, so we must have stuff under the hood that they think shouldn be there, they go looking for stuff if you know what i mean)

all the best mate
