I'm having a twin silenced exhaust system made up, 2.5 in all the way through but i've bee wondering, does it matter what size the tip of the rear can is ???

I was thinking of having a nice 4 or 5 inches but will that effect the performance ?

I know from reading through thread's on here a 2.5 in system is the optimum size for an N/A but i can't remember seeing about the tips.

Anyone know or got something similar fitted ?

Ok so from reading other threads, this topic seems to have been covered quite a few times but i would really appreciate any feedback.

Just want to know what size rear exhaust people have gone with and if they found that this element can also effect power.

E.g. if i have a de-cat pipe with a full 2.5 in system and then have a the rear box also with a 2.5 in tip, is that going to be better than having a 5 in tip?

mate it all comes down to the design, material and brand. as you've said yourself it's been covered many many many times before and thus people don't want to be repeating themselves.

no one can give you a straight up answer, purely because a 3" mild steel rear muffler is going to sound different to a 5" titanium steel muffler, then it varies from brand to brand depending on how they've designed it. power wise i'd say the effects of different diameter is going to be negligible - they muffler muffles the sound, and if it had any effect on the car's power and/or delivery you wouldn't notice it.

best bet is to search around the forum and ask a couple of guys if they're nice enough to upload an mp3 clip of it or something.
