That SOUNDS pretty good, but still get it all looked at and make sure there is nothing wrong with it.

Surely you are getting Splitfires, right?

Surely! Haha yes I am

I heard that pretty much all of the radiators are pretty damn manky when you get them out?? I hate to think what mine is going to look like but hope it's not too bad cause I want that and the intercooler to last until next year.

And looks like need a new roof after the bonnet incident. Stretched the metal beyond beating. Loving the new bonnet thoug. Tell me what you think. Just got it last night

The bonnet looks awesome!

I dont know about the roof though, replacing your roof is a huge job... I would get a few more opinions before going down that path.

Theres a mob in sydney that do mobile inspections on used cars. They can usually do them the day after you call up.

I have had them look at a few rotors etc for me that i have been interested in and it is well worth the money.

They do a 5 page report covering everything on the car including compression test etc and fax you the report when it is completed.

Costs around $200 depending on the car. Well worth losing 200 now and get told its crap rather than losing thousands down the track.

They are called stateroads.

Don't try too look at and purchase a car all in the one day. Be prepared to make a few trips interstate to find the right car.

yeh no doubt - ive found a couple im interested in so ive booked an inspection tomorrow afternoon....so which ever i like most i will get looked at if its what im looking for..... otherwise theres always next time....

was looking at a GTR as the price was right and he seems desperate but wasnt willing to drive 30mins to get the car inspected....... i hate sellers like that.....

He's not desperate then. BTW, I'd be wary of a 'desperate' seller.... desperate quite possibly means he's trying to offload a POS!

um yeah, I guess it depends on the model, but my roof also = rear quarters = big/cbf job

Actually, the group buy for coil covers was pretty good. You got a coil cover with your choice of logo cut out of it with extra flutes and holes. So you got the coil cover, but no heat build up.

    • From the pictures I have when doing the job the flywheel is the same diameter, I don't think they're playing weird tricks like putting weights at the outer diameter to increase flywheel inertia or anything like that. The OEM flywheel is definitely heavier, but it's not a huge difference. Quoted weight savings of the clutch is 2 kg so I can't imagine the flywheel being lighter than ~7 kg. Kind of regret not weighing it before the clutch went into the car but as far as driveability goes I have no complaints.
    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
