and now i have 255x17x40 mine doesn't brake traction nowhere near as much

I must admit i might have to sus out my suspension, beacause its not liking grip in first even with 265 Hankook V8RS rubber and 200rwkw. Wheel spin is fun tho! :D

268rwkw I had no issues getting the power down once I dropped on a set of better tyres.

300rwkw is a little harder but it still hooks up well and is quicker up and rolling even when it is spinning/bucking around a little than when it was hooking up and making 268rwkw.

Low profiles = FTL if you want to get the power to hook up. You need preferably 16" with a bit of a side wall or at the very most 17" no more.

I ran around on a set of wide 18's and they were useless for straight line grip compared to the 16's.

Gt35r with a .63 rear, should see a good kick in the back about 4k...laggy i know but i've had a responsive turbo, now im wanna pull some good power and see what that brings.

Can i ask what size and what brand your using joel? I'm keen to put stockies back on it for a bit.

yeah, you got a point.

i had 19s with 245/35 s, not really a good choice in tyre/size.

i learnt my lesson in modding the 33, one of which, BUY JAP RIMS!:cheers:

yeah alot of people assume the bigger the tyre the more grip! but as cubes said it's not the case! i don't know if anyone agrees with me but the standard suspension seems to have the most grip off the line! has something to do with weight transfer i think

It's a catch 22 sometimes, Squat is good for weight transfer and dampens the initial bang of the driveline, but squat can also induce excessive camber which can leave less tyre off the road. Having softer, larger walled tyres means the tyre doesn't follow the course of the squat as much leaving more tyre on the road. Low pro's are fantastic for the hills for turn in but wack for straight line especially in a 2wd. (as said previously)

hence why we used to run 90/10 shocks on the front & Mickey Thompsons on the rear for drag racing back in the day

yep thats why i have gone to stock wheels but with good tyres, i used to 19's with 265's on the back and they just wouldnt give traction, i have red many of articles in magazines wihch were written by Martin Donnin stating standard suspension is the best for the drag strip, so thats why i have kept mine in so im hoping my new power will be more traction friendly

Yeah thanks car feels excellent, very smooth linear power. Second gets a bit of a skip along when it comes on to boost. :D

Now for some cams to pick up ~20-25rwkw on the same boost and then 2-3psi more boost and you should get damn close to cracking 300rwkw. :D

Nice and safe on the Standard bottom end at the moment. It's good to know theres still more left in it if need be down the track.

Impressive results on a mainline dyno there Lee, you should see 265-270 on a DD machine.

Im going back to the drawing board, Wastegate was WIDE open but still pumping close to 20+psi. So ive decided to Go external Gate modded onto my DMAX manifold so i can regulate boost alot better. I could just wack on a .82 rear with a larger internal gate but i want to retain as much response as i can get my hands on so i'm keeping the .63 with looked fairly responsive and going external gate.

EDIT: martin seemed to love my setup, i was a bit unsure about the size of the bastard. :D
