Ive got an R32........finally!

Recommended Posts

Hey,

For anyone who is interested, Ive finally got my R32 today. Have been looking for ages, but then I saw this one and just had to have it. I wanted a sunroof but in the end it was more important to get a good car, than a shit one with a sunroof.

Its a R32 manual GTSt Type M, white. Best thing about it is that when sold in Japan in March was auction grade 4!! Almost perfect.

Second best thing is that it has the optional suede interior. The only car ive seen with it, looks more like the GTR interior, makes a big difference.

And a few mods aswell to get me started, exhaust, trust ajustable dampening suspension, POD, wheels.

So im really happy.. And I got insurance through Just cars for $500 cheaper than I thought it was going to be.

Altogether a great day. Will post pics as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Rhett

just so u know... auction grade 4 is false... its not possible on such an old car because of mileage...

oh and its the same interior as mine... its velour :) much better than the normal stuff.

sounds great tho!! cant wait to see it... did u try get a quote from famous classic? cause they normally cheaper than just cars.

depends when it came from Japan though don't it..

Anyway, good work xRHETTx...all that looking around paid off. You got the colour u wanted too, so congrats! hehe.. another makes the jump from R31 to turbo skyline. Its a good one.

I've actually been looking around a bit for a 31 again as a 2nd car.. I'm after a wagon - seen a couple that might be worth pursuing. So I might be doing the step back into the 31 world once again :)

A mate of mine has one with an RB25DET dumped in it, he was looking to sell it last time i saw him, i'll find out for you if interested.

Congrats rhett on the 32 sounds nice, just a question, how long did it take all up to get it here? and then on road? i remember when i was waiting for my 33 i was fully depressed for about 3 weeks coz things kept takin longer and longer ie. waiting for compliance plates and shiat

cheers

Inark, I have the auction report in front of me, It is definately genuine, its rating 4, as of March this year. 74,000kms.

I thought 4.5 was only for car under 50,000kms, and 4 was low kms for age, no accident damage and excellent condition for age.

I might be wrong though, but the report is real, im sure of that.

Im selling my r31 soon, as soon as i have time to get rwc and wash it. Its a December 88 manual, silver wagon GX, rola roof racks, remote immobiliser, about 237000kms, had it over 3 years, and its never stuffed up on me. Stock as Might come with decent stereo if i cant be bothered putting it in the new car.

antuanstylar:

I bought the car in Vic privately for $16.6k, onroad with 7months rego and 7 months warranty remaining. So i didnt import, didnt want to wait any longer, it seems to be what i was looking for anyway, at a similar price.

You cant get a good r32 from japan for less than $15k ive been told, then add on hassle, rego rwc and no mods and it evens out.

Insurance is $1700 insured agreed value $16600, 21, rating 3, no accidents or fines ever, with exhaust and wheels declared at the moment, will tell them about suspension soon. I guess it helps that im down on the Mornington Peninsula. :)

Famous couldnt do better than $2600 because of my age, couldnt even match my online quote of $2200 from Just Cars.

If anyone is after insurance from just cars, dont use the online quote system. It is way more expensive than just ringing up and waiting on hold.

SPEAK TO ME.. depending on price i may well be interested... i can wait a few weeks though

Got a few photos up now...

Apparently yahoo wont let freeloaders like me publicly share there high res photos anymore. So the pics arent that good, and the auction report is pretty small now.

Id love to know know what some of the report means...

The way you say this, you make it sound like they didn't make any factory turbo R31's. :D

:D

auction grades depend on what auction house it is.

according to geoff risbey, most of them only give 4s and above to practically brand new cars with no mods or damage. but that you cant really compare from one auction house to another because there all different.

so a 4 at one place could be 2.5 at another cause of its age.

i like the seats your taking about. firend of mines new 32 had those seats, looks so much better than standard and feels cool too.

i made sure the 32 i got had those seats... cant stand the normal clothy spec flicked crap.

and now those seats are in peices :D starting to wish i never put that bucket seat in...

    • @Kinkstaah yeah I initially checked with Chequered as I've used them with a previous car. But they have stopped sourcing and installing Nistune chips. They only do tuning now. I did not want to pull out my ECU and send it away somewhere to have the chip installed. That would mean no driving the Skyline
    • Should have checked that.  On the plus side, I got my Bluetooth adaptor.
    • Each province differs a bit but we only do mandatory vehicle inspections here for heavy vehicles (Think Ford F350 and up). Those inspections are done by mechanics that are approved by the government. Besides that, it's a free for all as long as the car looks stock.  I asked because I love seeing how engineering differs from country to country. Here in Canada, all designs must be stamped and signed before they can be brought to fruition. (I.E Bridges, structures, Electrical panels, machines, literally everything shy of a wooden table) This can only be done by a professional engineer or professional engineering technologist. Both are protected titles, but the latter having more of a limited scope in what they can stamp. To become a professional engineer, you must complete a 4-5 year bachelors degree in your field of engineering, be part of an engineering order and undergo 4 years of apprenticeship, testing and mandatory continues education. Same story for engineering technologists, but a 3 year associates degree in some form of engineering technology will suffice. If you do not comply, or pretend you're an engineer or technologist, off to jail you go. If you stamp a design that fails, off to jail you go. If you stamp a design that fails and kills someone (I.E Bridge collapse) Off to jail you go for a very long time, your family will be ridiculed on the news, neighbours will surround your home with pitch forks and your dog will disown you.  Same for specialised trades... Example Electricians must undergo 1.5 years of post high school education, 4 years of apprenticeship, testing and hold proper licences. It's for the best, but then we also wonder why we're so short on engineers and tradesmen haha. We also have professional engineers who were only school smart but have no idea how a drill works. They generally go straight into management roles out of school which is also for the best.
    • Not currently, I'm at the school where we teach people to build bridges and other fun things that involve making, or breaking things
    • I have a friend who has used Chequered Tuning and CMS. Went to CMS when Chequered had a long wait time which is kind of the norm (for good reason). Was very happy - I'm pretty sure the very simple thing you're asking will be simple.
