Hi all,

As i mentioned in another thread, i have finished purchasing the majority of main styling parts for my R34, since i am a P plater this was my first and only real option to modding my car that i had.

But i have now only 15 months left on my P's (still seems far) but i am moving onto the performance side. The super costly performance side...

I recently got my hands on pricing for the RB26DETT NUR N1 engine and GETRAG 6 speed Transmission and was quite happy with the pricing (even with our dodgy dollar). These two specific parts are no longer parts i desire and wish i had, but are now on the list of purchases for the next series of developments on my 34.

The problem is that i don't even have a GT-T platform (25GT) so alot of things need to be overhauled, replaced and fabricated.

My question is can anyone and everyone name me as MANY parts as comes to your head in order for this fine piece of machinery to run in my engine bay, without hassels.

Im talking about mounts etc, lil bits and fidgety pieces, what ecu's you would need etc, the reason i post this in the general area is become some of these parts arnt specific to Skylines and can be everyday car running parts, since im not to bright on the know how with general engine parts.

I do realise i need a new Suspension set, new+bigger Brake Kit. Intercooler, Turbo's, Exhaust etc. What are the intricates that i am missing and the fine ones too?

Thanks in advance. This is a big step for me and my wallet...so all the help i can get would be great. (Ps searching aint working for me admins, so i can't even check basic stuff) on other threads, although i would like it if i could have this open so i can jsut list everything down people mention here :(

Sincerely, Josh.

P.s Mechanics, GT-R owners etc will be extremely useful for my questions :O

You'd be in a better position to sell the non-turbo and purchase a turbo model, and go from there.

Cost wise and the amount of mucking around you will have to do is not worth it.

Think of the amount of stuff that is already upgraded on the turbo models, brakes, gboxes(in most cases), 5 stud hubs, and all the other little things...

Or you could have a big project to do on your n/a model. Choice is yours :(

+1 on the NA brakes; they are shocking!!!!!!!

Intercooler - 1000-1500 with pipes

Turbos - 2500-4000 + manifolds 300-1000 + dumps 400-600 + Front 200-400 + Catback 800-1200

Brakes - 3000-5000+ including disks and pads

Wheels - Sure u want them = 2000-4000

Intake plenum + injectors + fuelrail + regulator = 2500-3000

Differencial - 2000

Most importantly labour; especially to fabricate a custom tailshaft and ECU + tuning would reach 10k alone

Yer I agree with the general consensus. If you want a turbo R34 the logical thing to do would be to sell the GT n buy a GT-T and if you really have your heart set on an RB26 then buy a 34 GTR. The costs in parts, labour and custom fabrication would far outway the cost of buying a GTR which you can pick up a decent one for $55k.

Once your finished modding your GT all you'll have is a poor attempt at a GTR. With the money you save from buying a GTR you could mod it up to be a really nice streeter which has all the looks and presence the the GT wouldn't have no matter how much money you spend on it.

Thats my 2c and probably everyone elses aswell.

If your really set on doing this the be prepared for a long road because I doubt everything will work out fine the first time round.

Coxy

The Getrag wont work so well as you'll also need to change the diff gearing, R34's run ~3.45 from memory, not the 4:11's you'll have.

A 32/33R box needs the transfer case etc removed, the Getrag would be even more of a challenge... not to mention its not worth modifying it. Better off selling it and using the trusty ole RB25DET gearbox (whatever the code is for it)

Ontop of all that you have to convert basically everything

The motor itself will bolt in with RB26 mounts. Obviously you'll need the loom and all associated to make it all work.

But between suspension (full change right down to the hubs to go 5-stud)

Brakes

Diff

Drivetrain (gearbox/tailshaft)

Clutch

Your looking at well above 10k. Which would be much cheaper if you start from the turbo base model and transfer all your body kit parts over to it. Not to mention time, headfk factor and everything else involved in a full re-part of the car.

And then also, its still illegal as a N/A plated body!

RB26 update would be FAR easier from the turbo model base, engineers would sign off instantly where coming from a non-turbo body plate your going to have a lot more trouble.

Getting a bit excited with the parts? And… what are you talking about? He's putting a RB26 in there.

A new diff is $1500 new. Not 2k.

A upgrade of brakes to R33/R34 turbo items is going to cost you less than $1500 including labour and fitting, the next setup realistically is GTR brembo and that’s only gonna add max of another $600-$800… the next step is 6-pots and then your talking 6k+

Plenum - why would you even change it from the RB26 item? Waste of time and money.

Fuel reg & rail, again, wasted money as they are not needed, factory is fine

Manifolds, again, waste.

You can get a decent R34 GTR for a lot less than 55k. Closer to 45k, hell I know a mates one that was less than 40k. Needed a few bob spent on the body but it was only minor.

NUR is 11,200 and GETRAG tran was 10K so i know theres alot more work and alot more money etc...i just wante dot know what was needed but anyhow probably logically thinking it would be better to wait :)

But ill have a few looks n check what i can do i guess....

Ummm.....That alone should make you realise buying a R34 GTR straight up is the only sain option.
