Hi all,

I bought a set of SplitFire coils from an online auction that were advertised only as R34.

To my dismay when they arrived I saw the list of models printed on the back of the box and mine wasn't there.

My car is an R34 RB25DE Neo.

The coils I got were SF-DIS-005.

On the back of the box the Skyline models listed are:

ER33, ECR33 RB25DE

ER33, ECR33 RB25DET

BNR34 RB26DETT

After checking online it looks like the ones I need are SF-DIS-008.

So, I emailed the guy to try and get a refund and he says they should work ok in my car and told me to try them.

I prefer not to pull my car apart for nothing and hope that someone on here can answer the question for me.

Will they work ?

Doesn't the R33 have a separate ignitor, and the R34 not ?

thanks in advance

Andrew

Splitfire make a different model for a reason. They definitely are not all the same.

You are correct though you need the 008's. I would say you dont want to take second best and to send the correct model!

I think the difference between series 1 and 2 coils in R33s was that the series two has on ignitor seperate where as series one was built in

series 1.5 and 2 r33s have the ignitor in the coils, series 1 has a seperate ignitor.

I have just replaced the coil packs on my RB25De Neo I bought SF-DIS-008 from Access Autowork in Melbourne they were the cheepest & their delivery was fantastic as I am on the Central Coast of NSW [took 2 working days]. I found them on the classified section of this forum. They cost $615 + $15 postage, cheeper than out of Sydney. The SF-DIS-008's are also used in GTT's & Stagea's so dont worry if it says RB25DeT Neo they are the same

Phil :)

Correct about the igniters. I have one R33 coilpack in mine at the moment, temporary bandaid fix till I get splitfires (which are on the way). It's been temporarily mounted as well, think the bolts lined up differently or something, but they work.

whats the go with second hand splitfires... are they worth buying? any risks if they could be broken?

im thinking of buying some second hand ones from here, and seller told me they have only ran on the car for an hour lol, think it was a show car

thanks

s1.533, It's only coilpack number 3 that's been temporarily replaced, I think my tuner fitted it with a washer or something to hold it in, just for me to be able to keep driving. Been going a few weeks liek that now lol

How much does he want for the splitfires? If it's significantly cheaper you could probably give them a go At the end they're splitfires so they're going to be a good brand of coilpack. If it's only a saving of say $50 or less, then if it were me I'd just buy new ones.

performance-wise has some really good coils that suit the S1 RB25DE and I think they will have some more to suit the S2 RB25DE soon aswell.

Theres more info on them here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Co...80&start=80

Ive had these in my S1 RB25DET for a couple of weeks now and they work a treat. Only cost me $350 posted, brand new and with 6 month warranty.
