I 2nd what Bubba said

haha knew he would use his RB30 as an example to make us all envy again :P

Resale of any car = FAIL

esp modified cars

if you want to invest buy shares, managed funds, property or open a dealership

Just telling it how it is :) if you have the means/tools/space to do stuff, it can be done on a budget. If you don't and aren't prepared to pay through the nose for labour, then forget about modifying cars :P

The only investment cars are old classics that you bought a long time ago, it is very very rare to make money off a car nowadays. That being said, it can be done.. a mates boss went to Powercruise over east last year and came home with an LX A9X that he paid 60k for, brought it back over here and sold it for 140k a matter of months later! He then poured that cash into a HK Monaro with a 6/71 blower hanging out the bonnet :D

Guys,

This thread is starting to head off topic.

Also the chances of a 350 - 400 KW build being under taken are somewhat slim to say the least. (Comment about engine response sums it up perfectly)

A budget in the order of $15,000 $20,000 is needed on top of the right car to begin with.

This is becoming more of a I wish thread than I am going to try / undertake the following mods thread.

Take the information that the guys havbe put forward Rhys,

Guys if you want to continue these types of discussions take it into the WT.

Cheers

Mike

You will never EVER make back anywhere near what you spent, but that isn't the point - it's all about YOUR enjoyment. If it's what you like and what you want to do, then do it. Just don't expect to make any of your money back

Yep, thats exactly why project starting points are so important.

don't buy a gts to build a gtst or a gtst to build a gtr.

On the other hand buying an expensive collection of performance parts off someone for next to nix when you buy them bolted to a car is very cool.

i agree with rev...im sure you can find a gtst with a good price and excellent mods that will make a good starting point for a project. Depending on what you want..buying an unfinished project can save you heaps if that was the things you wanted to do to your car in the first place

Cheers guys. I'm gonna look into buying an R34 GTT and see what happens after that. I've always loved them, so why not? As for the engine, I'll do plenty of research and see what suits my needs.

Bubba: I know you'll never get your money back. Its a fact of life. But as long as the car is what you want, then there is nothing to worry about.

Andrew: I'm not buying your 34 for $30k! I'll only have about $20k. So... if u wanna give it to me at mates rates... And I've seen how you drive it! I've driven it! Lol. But I do think I'll like how it looks. And the mechanic who did your brakes was good! And one other thing, it doesnt fit in my garage! Remember?
