Hey people, after doing a bit of research and talking to people about what boost controller to go for, i have basically come down to the final to which are either a Blitz DSBC Spec R or a Greddy Profec B Spec II.

Basically I just want something simple, my only reason for going electronic is so I can make the boost come on hard, rather than just having a bleed valve, which as far as I know is refferred to as the Gain%? on the Greddy ones..

have also heard that the Blitz ones can even be noisy at some times?

Any thoughts or opinions on either of these would be great..

I can comment on the Blitz having owned one previously (i've gone back to stock solenoid/nistune remap/r32 actuator now).

As you say, with the DSBC, it goes on %duty cycle. The DSBC has 4 settings, not including off. There's an overboost feature, and a retard boost feature. It's a dual solenoid, so goes up to around 2.5bar so it's highly recommended for twin turbo big boost applications. The downside is that the dual solenoid is huge so it's a little hard to keep hidden in your engine bay. The only reason why the blitz would be noisier would be because boost is built earlier.

There's also the price difference. The DSBC Spec R is a lot more expensive than the Profec.

But, I was looking at TypeVu's Profec install today, and one thing I do like about it is that it's really easy to keep it all stealth especially with the neat solenoid unit.

Manual boost tee for life! I own a Greddy EBC and now it sits on my steering wheel column as a boost gauge while I use a manual boost tee to get the boost level I want.

Ok that makes no sense to me...

You could try to set the ebc up maybe? lol

I have an aftermarket turbo so i want something that has more controll than just a boost tee, allowing it me to make it come on hard rather than gradual like the mechanical ones do... basically how do these go at doing that?

I've got a profec on mine, although im still running the standard turbo. I found it pretty easy to set up, and to get the boost to come on fast and hard without spiking. When i took it in to get my power fc installed and tuned, the boost controller barely needed touching. So if I can do it.....

I was contemplating the blitz dual solenoid controller as well, but the price difference and my application pushed me to the profec in the end.

Your bro needs to spend more time tuning the ebc then.

I have a ProfecBII and it works perfectly fine. Early on I was getting some spikes when coming on boost (comes on boost really hard really early.. 25 turbo on a 30..) and it was spiking up slightly and hitting the overboost threshold and thus dropping back to my overboost setting. I dropped the SETGAIN (the pressure it holds the gate shut until) 0.2psi aswell as increasing the overboost setting (so instead of dropping back to 0% it dropped back to only a few % below what the SET % is) and it's mint :P

You need to slowly tweak all the settings in conjunction with each other, start with a reasonable % increase then use the GAIN setting to tweak out any creep or tapering. Then you can bump the SET % up to run the desired boost setting (don't go straight to this level from the start as the GAIN setting affects boost levels). Once it holds the boost level you want nicely you can start bumping up the SET GAIN to bring the boost on a lot faster, keeping bumping it up slowly until it spikes then back it off.

blitz ebc (dsbc) is untouchable, simple as that the best curves i see day in day out are always from dual solenoid blitz boost controllers, the profec b is still a very good controller as is the gizzmo.

Greddy Profec E-01 user here... everything is sweet as, screen is a little large but shows a lot of information... boost control is awesome. Need to set it manually though as the AUTO learn function is a piece of crap and completely useless without a dyno as you have to wind it out to some absurd speed / rpm.

I'm trying to decide between the HKS EVC V and the Blitz SBC i-D SPEC-R. I can get both for around $600 new. I currently have a HKS EVC III that has died for no apparent reason (my mechanic spent 4 hours with Martin Donnon trying to get it to work with no success).

Are there any advantages/disadvantages between the 2 products?

    • Back in January, I noticed my car felt noticeably weak. I had the injectors cleaned, which seemed to solve the problem -- until now. Recently, the car suddenly lost power again while driving. Suspecting the injectors, I brought it to the mechanic. He recommended replacing them entirely, saying the current ones were getting unreliable and fiddly to work with. I could not find a direct replacement for my current injectors. The closest match I found were 440cc injectors. This led me to look into the possibility of upgrading -- and of course, that would mean remapping the ECU. From my research I found: The OEM Part numbers are 16600-72L20 and 16600-72L21 Both the RB20DE and RB20DET use the same 270cc injectors. There are much better options out there over the old OEM injectors. Nistune could be a viable tuning option. While the RB20DE isn’t explicitly listed on their site, the ECU is essentially the same as the GTS-T version - just with a different map. The ECU code on mine is listed as supported. One concern is finding a tuner who works with Nistune.     • The inspectors are not forensic by any means but if you forge your documents and/or badgings on vehicle parts and are found out, the consequences are just far bigger than if you just run illegal parts. And their job quite literally is to cross reference what parts you got installed and what your papers say you got. Something as silly as your suspension being 1mm too low will fail you. Nonetheless I asked if someone knew the damn pipe and I certainly did not ask for smartassery or underhanded comments, no idea why you need to be told this. Great way to waste both our time.
    • As useful as you explaining what forgery is... But then again, I wasn't aware your inspectors were also forensic experts and inspect nameplates on each component to confirm everything is original. They must inspect roughly 3 cars a year at that rate. You're right though, my comment doesn't help you in anyway, so I'll go talk to my wall now. Cheers.
