I think the reason for them being there is to make sure the springs remain captive at full droop.

As longs as the springs remain captive, shouldn't be a problem to remove them.

the lower u adjust ur coilovers, the bigger the gap between the top of the coil and seat becomes at full droop, so the lower u go the more the need for helper springs really. and since ur looking at going really low id say ud want the helper there moreso
