Hi guys

To make a long story short, this is my first time importing a car and the car will be landing in Brisbane next tuesday (28/10/2008). Everying is fine so far, except I DO NOT have an Import Approval yet!

What will happen to my car if it landed without import approval? what should I do now?

It not like I havnt give the compliancing shop enough time to get the import approval, I have paid them the deposit and signed the paperwork 4 weeks ago (23/09/2008).

So, any help or advise for my situation is appreciated.

PS: I live in Brisbane, QLD

My help would be to post this in the Import Section as this question is related to importing... And if there is an Import company that is bringing in your car.. call them and ask.. as this is their job and i'm sure they'll know

yeah, I realised i posted in the wrong forum, but i have no clue how to change it, anyone can help?

I believe i gave the compliancing ppl enough time to get the paper work done, I was told by both the import broker and the comliancing ppl it would take around 2 ~ 3 weeks to get the approval. It's been 4 weeks since I paid the compliancing centre.

Simple - if you've given them enough time to apply for it, take any storage fees off the cost of compliance. Still got time for it to come through yet, so don't panic.

so the car will only be stored at the dock? The compliancing centre told me the car may be returned to japan...

I guess all I can do now is sit and wait and hope the approval will come thru, or this will be my first and last car import

Ask your import broker for advice - that is what you're paying them for!!!

What car is it that you're bringing in? Presuming it's eligible, your compliance workshop sounds like they're on crack...

Umm, the broker is on taking a break at the momment and wont be back until next tuesday, the day my car should arrive in Brisbane, the reason being the exchange rate fluctuating wildly. So, email communication is out, but I will give him a call tomorrow to see how it goes.

and the car I am importing is just a 2005 auto v35 skyline, no mods or crash history. Shouldnt be a problem bout the car hey?

    • Hey everyone!!  I've noticed that whenever I do my oil changes, after putting 4L in, the oil level sits at the top mark in the dipstick. This is after letting the old oil drain for a very long time too! I've checked the oil level daily for the past few mornings. It happens every time and it's confusing because all the threads say that it should take about 4.7L (With some just adding the full 5L) My next thought is to figure out if the dipstick I have is correct so could someone please tell me the length of the RB25DET engine oil dipstick?  I've checked images of some of the genuine dipsticks, but none of them have the length in it. https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-engine-oil-level-dipstick-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-stagea-c35-laurel-y34-cedric-gloria-rb25de-t-neo?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOortQXofgmiHVRKuIaiKuygL4k0Ewp68c3isGZk0vvKOJ7Yqf3iB However.... the engraving on the genuine ones say 05002 while mine says AA000. This makes me believe that maybe I have a wrong dipstick? I just want to confirm before I buy a new one. The car is a fresh import from Japan so I don't have details of the previous owner to ask him. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾
