hi all, posted this in another thread but thought i would start a new thread

heres my problem, I'm not making any difference from 14 psi and over, workshop thinks its cause of the wastegate (T04), it had 2 "bedsprings" hanging off with one attached to the turbo and one not, due to the seller of the car taking it off so i wasnt learning how to drive it with it pushing out close to 1.5bar

we thought it was a restrictive cat but later found out that it was gutted anyway :), so replaced that with a 3 inch one and still the problem remains.

have turbosmart e-boost as well.

any suggestions?

. . .

gone

I'm getting similar problems with my T04, and similar unknown causes. Part of the problem *was* the wastegate, but not all of it. I upgraded it to a stronger unit but I'm still having slight surge/hesitance problems in upper rev ranges. The next step for me is a bigger dump pipe and machining out the exhaust housing a bit, but I don't think that's all of it either.

I think most of the reason is just that this turbo doesn't like high boost.

I haven't done anything with mine yet :P I'm waiting for the PowerFC to arrive, and then I'll see if I can tune the flat spots out. If so then my wastegate must be ok. But I won't know for the next week or 2 at the very least.
