This is the 1st time I have ever heard of a National Supersprint Championship. It's being held over 2 days with 4 runs per day. Friday is a practice day.

I'm up for it,,,anybody else?.

The sup regs and entry forms are on the ARDC website.

Entry fee $195 with a small price for garages or carports.

Check it out,,,should be a lot of fun.

Neil.

I think i have read the website wrong i was looking at the EC web site for some days to go for a drive and found that the track is open for practice Friday 21st of Nov but is it only open for practice for those who are entering the sprint series?

:D

I'm definitely interested. I'll see how the car holds up at this weekend's supersprint and see if I can make it down there. Damn, that's only a month away...

I haven't heard anything about this around the traps up here in QLD. For a national chamionship they haven't put the word out very widely!

Qiuck question for you NSW Supersprint competitors. I'm not too familiar with your Type 1,2,3,4 categories. In type 3 which is loosely based on IPRA regs, do turbo cars have to run a restrictor?

Harry group 3 is based on IPRA and while eligibility is generally not checked too closely, in this case (National champs) you can bet it will be....Neil and I both got bumped to open class in the last national champs we entered :(

yeah I figured they'd be checking eligibility stuff for this, so I wanted to tick the right box on the entry form. The NSW vehicle classifications are so vague!

Type 3. Competition vehicles based on 3J Club Cars rules as defined in the CAMS Manual. Minor

additional freedoms are allowed to recognise that there will be some road-registered vehicles

competing, that cannot meet full 3J rules

one of the things I'd imagine road registered turbo cars that are otherwise suitable for IP wouldn't have is a restrictor???

I wouldn't bother coming all the way down there for an arse kicking in Type 4 Sport Sedans. Can't compete with them on semi slicks. and it looks like SV have to be road registered.

Maybe the Supra in Type 2 would be the go. Although it says no inlet system mods for turbo vehicles, and I have a pod... these rules are gay!

Yea that does sound very gay. To be honest I have not read the rules for other classes,,,just my own.

Seems you have to have had 3 runs in cams supersprint to be elidgeable. Road registered cars don't need a log book,,,so how the hell would they know if you contested 3 or 33?.

Duncan we were not bumped into the open classs,,,we were bumped into the "Special" class. Remember that gave us the right to push and shove the non-special drivers out of the road.

I was at a CAMS supersprint this weekend, and no-one I've spoken to around the traps up here has even heard of this "national" championship! Its not even on the CAMS calendar...

I might be the only interstate person even thinking of coming! lol

Oh how funnies that!!!. I just did a search on cams and also got nothing.

Cams have really lost the plot. So much for grass-roots racing.

Why do we as an affiliated club pay theses fools so much money.

Um i might post them an e-mail,,,I'm in the mood.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well day 1 results are up for this and there are some real surprises.

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....11/2008.ARDC.S1

The first surprise is that SAU is currently second in the national supersprint champs thanks to John's Z....he did a 1.42.67 which is great considering how poor the conditions were today (no rain but very cold and windy for this time of year). Great work John, that car has come a long way over the years!

Also, Neil is in the top 10 and only 2/10ths of 3rd in class....with a 1.45.92

Fastest overall is scotty in the minetti which is an amazing 4.12 seconds ahead of the field. Amazing what a well set up car, good driver and green slicks car do :P

All they best to our guys tomorrow!

Well done Neilly and John - looks like you might keep those spots with the crappy weather today?

Here's a few pics of Neil in action yesterday...

We called it a day when the rain came down at lunch today, it was hard enough keeping the 240z in a straight line yesterday (opposite lock is fun but not fast!) & the 2nd hand semi slicks were pretty much had it by yesterday arvo.

For a national event it wasnt really all that great, but at least it was a chance to run E.C. for the first time. Its a great track, nice & wide, flowing & technical, just could'nt get turn 2, no matter what we tried, it just ended up in body roll sideways action :)

I had the terratrip on(yes it is a dirt/rally car) & counted 200+ competive kms with the 2 of us driving.

Once we worked out where the track went we both got down to 2.01, now considering redoing suspension/lowering and getting a descent tarmac set up to use the cars potential.

Hope to run a few more next year & can recommend Eastern Creek to anyone thinking of running it, totally different to Wakefield & Oran Park.
