Steering wheel jiggly/travel

Ive noticed lately that there appears to be a fair bit of travel through the steering wheel (it can move forward and back a bit)

It is especially noticeable on rough roads (the wheel jiggles around like crazy)

any ideas what could be up?

it definately is getting worse

im just about to take the car in for a major service anyway, coz its due, but im hoping my suspension aint on the way out (it probably is)

Just a suggestion, I had a similar problem, went to a wheel and tyre place and got a 4WS alignment and it has been smooth sailing ever since.

You havent inadvertently released the lever that allows you to adjust the steering wheel angle/height ?

4 of the 5 bolts that held the steering wheel to the steering column had come loose (scary that the wheel could pretty much have come off in my hand at any time)

tightened up all those suckers and it feels brand new (even some rattles have disappeared!)

there you go eh!
