Ok heres my question, maybe someone else on here has done this already.

I want to remove the satnav DVD drive and replace it with a DVD player for movies etc for my passengers. im sure this is simple enough to do. my question is this; what is the interface for the screen for that function? is it just an RCA? or something else as the buttons control the satnav as well. how does the sound interface?? RCAs again or some splicing??

i dont want to use the TV input, because i eventually want to put in a digital TV tuner in its place.

any help is much appreciated! i like the fact the DVD will be hidden by the flap and no one knows its there.

found the button that lets me watch tv while driving! handy :D

mmmm... there are a few threads about this but some of the information is buried in many pages.

If you want the functions of the cars computer still available (ie, trip computer and fuel economy) you have to keep the DVD rom connected to the car.

The best and cheapest solution I have seen to date is the one by Jetwreck. He has installed Headrests with DVD/monitor in them and also installed the digital TV tuner from chook. He is now able to watch TV on all 3 monitors and I believe play DVD's in the rear headrests and this will show on the front screen.

This works because the TV tuner has 2 AUX inputs so he has run the DVD player out put to these. He installed this himself and he hates electrics and for less than $700.

Chris Rogers knows how to install the DVD player in the place of the DVD rom and also relocate this item but it was not easy and not cheap. Have a look at V35 for sale from WazR32GTst, he has this system installed in his car.

I know the input for the monitor is not RCA. You can make a RCA input for the TV tuner that allows you to run the DVD player through the AUX input of the TV and you would be able to relocate the input through the new TV tuner when you put it in.

PM me if you want to meet up as you are just around the corner from my place and I can show you what I mean.

Cheers

Andy

hahah ive just been browsing through the V35 section finding this exact information!

ive read up what Chris' TV tuners will do and have the relevant docos to go with it.

i have a reverse camera so thats 1 tv input used, but as you said, the NTSC tv tuner is using one also.

thanks for your reply! i might take you up on the offer to check out these mods on your car

I am not sure which plug the reverse camera uses on the TV tuner? On the new TV tuner there are 2 inputs so that may work.

im not sure the camera uses the tv tuner, but who really knows. looks like a dealer option by the way the camera wiring was installed.

maybe i should just remove the centre console and check it out - while i fix the tiptronic direction. f**king annoying! damn accord euro had it wrong too! lol

The TV tuner is in the left rear kick pannel in the boot. The one with the little box in the side. If you take that off you will be able to see where it plugs in I think.

If you want as I work in Rhodes I can meet up and show you the system I have put in......Andy may have to explain how it work though.

PM sent with my number.

camera runs a data stream into the OE tuner. that switches the OE navi system to RGB in.

on the OE TV side it uses the AUX in plug and has a second plug in the harness that allows the AUX in to

still work.

to relocate that unit you need a LOT of cable (if its a 2003 variant then there are 3 CAN lines - one audio lead and 48 cables to move) and a LOT of patience.

putting the DVD in there is the easy bit - moving the OE DVD rom is a PITA! the OE unit runs the screen UNLESS you want to piss it off entirely and drive the factory screen via RGBs. that works but you lose all of the diagnostics/computer stuff.

I did a thread on moving one a while back in the V35 area.

questions - ask :ninja:

damn thats the stuff i wanted to hear! not that Andy and Craig werent helpful!

after hearing this, and reading the V35 sections and how long the english translation is taking, i MIGHT piss it all off and see if there is a touch screen that will fit in there and then put a PC in the DVD drive slot.

from there USB (maybe) tv tuner, GPS the usual stuff. but all PC based. costly, but MAY be worth it.

mines a 2001/2002, it was sold as a 2001 but its an aero selection (2002+??) and the seatbelts are also 2002.

but anyway, slightly off topic, i saw your info regarding the factory cruise control and fitting it. anymore progress or is it too much of a shit-fight to get it working?

Xenarc will fit with fiddling. with the TV tuner get one that does twin diversity. the PC based ones are not that much chop UNLESS you can find one with two tuners. as for antenna setup - FORGET the OE antennas DESPITE what you read.

in regard to the car PC idea make sure you have power there to run it. IE NOT the original power feeds to the DVD ROM.

cruise,

I have got it working - aftermarket item designed to my specs that runs the OE controls. I'm working on a second version that is DBW and that is in testing now on a 2005 CPV35. if it goes to plan I'll drop the first version that I do and use this one.

ring me on monday I'm taking a few days off to recover from vthirtyfiveitis .. contact details in sig and I'll discuss that car with you :ninja:

hmm i was just telling Andy that i could handle aftermarket cruise as long as its got the factory buttons. (gotta talk to you about the radio ones - ill PM you) but ill wait for your testing to complete on the V35. personally they are overrated, i think the M35 is a much nicer looking car, and it has turbo, and nothing is better than a turbo :ninja:

(waiting for some V35 owners to bite:) )

cruise does run the OE buttons. I'd be interested in your cluster actually as it *should* have the correct panel on it with the cruise lights in place already. the V35 does not although they are the same base unit.

Radio buttons on the wheel - yep I have them in stock 90% of the time. to me the car is somewhat similar to a V series anyway.

ill shine the torch in the clutster for you to see if the panels appear. the LCD will be harder i guess but ill check it now for you.

i take it you havent done an M35 yet?? or played with one?

ok looks like there IS a spot for cruise, but it doesnt say cruise. its just a blank.

also the LCD with the current gear lacks the cruise section, its way too small

looks like cruise equipped M35s have a different cluster too!

have played with a cruise version but not a plain version. you answered my question.

it sucks, would have been nice to have a cruise light on the cluster!

maybe it can be retro fitted? i wonder whats IN the cluter, might be a cover there, looks to be a square blank, maybe its covered from behind?

when i install my AUX adaptor, ill take the cluster out too and see what the go is
