LED's in series or parrallel?

i was just wondering if anyone knows if the back LED lights on the spoiler, are in series or parrallel? ie: if one led goes out, do they all go out? or have u seen a back spoiler light on a GTST with only a couple or some lights working?

Pretty sure they are in banks. So groups are in series etc.

I think there's a thread around about it, do a search and see if you find anything.

Well the good news is they are in both. ie: u loose one led you will loose one group, ie: 5.

the even better news is i can fix it.

the bad news is, i have to pull the plastic off and re-seal it once i fix it. doh!!!!

Champinco is right. There is also an extra plain vanilla dioide that is run in series with all the LED's. I have seen on 2 skylines where this has corroded out leaving the whole light-bar unable to come on. You should probably be able to bridge it with wire if you want, but the diodes themselves are cheap to buy.

go to jaycar or dick smiths for the led's . i have resealed one before ( not of skyline ) i used silicone sealant , the clear stuff , i worked ok .

When I got mine the diode was burned out (common problem). I couldn't see the point in having the diode in there other than to preserve the LEDs in case some moron wired it around the wrong way, so I just replaced it with a bit of wire. Been working fine ever since, although I have 1 or 2 dead LEDs (not an entire "bank" of them though).

they are wired up in series and parrallel.

4 leds are wired up in series then those groups are wired in parallel.

i had a few problems with mine a while ago... just ran a wire from 1 group to the next and bridged them... works fine now
