Hey all i have just recently taken posession of a 2001 34 GTR V spec 2. Currently it has Nismo suspension, exhaust and clutch. Question i have is where do i go next. Not looking to do anything too crazy or defectable but wanna get some power gains. Any suggestions?

Also when it went through compliance they removed the original hallogen headlight bulbs and voltage box, do these original bulbs make a large difference, should i put them back in.

And lastly i have noticed that it has the sat nav fitted, but it is set in Japenese, is there a DVD in English available?

Any information would be great, Cheers!

Hey man i was in the same boat as you about 6 months ago; vspec 2 in black! what colour u get?

basically a race-cat was my first mod from just jap at 90ish bux

next i swapped the HKS EVC version 3 for the new version 6

added some apexi pod filters and power fc tuned at CREATD ms

this netted me 255awkw @ 1 bar; amazing response and very reliable.

ill be adding some tomei dump pipes and 2860-7 turbos just for reliability sake but be keeping it at 1bar and more fine tuning of the ignition and fuel maps for little knock as possible.

not many weak points left; possibly a new timing belt + cam gears + oil and water pump in about 20,000 more km/s

I service the car myself with motul 8100xcess or 300v depending on the climate

oh and make sure you flush out the gearbox as when the car is complianced they usually use manual tranny fluid but in fact the getrag uses an automatic tranny fluid bought from totoya its called v160

or you can use the cheaper castrol tranzmax Z which apparently is the same stuff

You got a full exhaust or just cat back?

I would upgrade the pannel air filter or install 2 air pods.

I asume your Sat Nav does not work as it is only made for Japan and if it does work it probley say you are in the middle of the ocean somewhere LOL!

Did your car come with Xenon headlights? I think the V-Specs did. If so, you are lucky they did not take the whole headlight out and just change the globe.

Some ADR bullshit says Xenon headlights can catch fire so you need to install water injectors for the headlights or change the whole headlight units.

So put the original head light bulbs back in cuz it be brighter and you can see better in the dark.

lmao!! oh yeah mate you should see me when im detailing her; used 2 bottles of lubricant when im rubbing her down with my bar.

actually you'll get a kick outta this; i covered the car with a satin sheet everynight during each stage of the detail to make sure no contaminants stuck to the freshly clay bar'd, polished and protected paint.

Cheers for the advice guys, I bought a bayside blue one, so in love with the colour. Funny you commented on the sat nav, i was going to ask about that. Yeah it has the sat nav, is there any possible way of getting that to work in Aus. It runs on a DVD so i was wondering if i was able to get an aussie dvd would it be compatible? I have been told that i can have the frequency modulator adjusted for the tv so that it works.

Yeah during compliance they did remove the voltage box and bulbs, but they did leave it all in the car so im guessing i should take your advice and put them back in? If your analogy is correct i think it would be stupid for me not to!

It did come from japan with a nismo air filter but during compliance they removed it (bastards). I am looking at the HKS pod filter kits for it ossibly, any better suggestions?

It also has a full Nismo Weldina NE1 exhaust, twins all the way to the rear box. So i dont think i will need to modify that just yet.

Think i might start by removing the restrictors in the boost lines and possibly an FC. What sort of power should i expect out of that? Thanks for the info about the gear box i will certianly look into that. Ill post some pics soon once i get my rims on it.

Hey man dont bother about the sat nav; you can buy a portable unit now for like 300bux.

I had one in my car but i ripped out about 100metres of wires and modules.

You will see/hear alot of people not too keen on the hks pods but apexi was tested as the most efficient removing contaminants and best airflow so id go a power intake kit for about 350bux from many traders on here.

definitely do the bulbs lolz!

remove the restrictors and put in a high flow cat or de-cat pipe and that will net you about 210awkw

add the power fc and an EBC (make sure its a duel solenoid or stepper motor kind) this tune will net you anywhere from 240-260awkw with the right tuner.

Research tuners around where you live as SAU will recommend the best! racepace and creatd etc

If you want a really good cat, you probably want one that's really high flow and has a metal core unfortunately they cost a lot more than $90. Closer to $300 for a metal inside one.

Anyway, what's this about catching fire?

They don't comply to ADR standards because (it goes something like this) they don't self-lower (or something similar) and they don't have a wiper blade on the front to wash them. I can't remember if its an "OR" or an "AND" for those requirements, you'll have to look it up to find the correct version but I've never heard of this "fire hazard" version.

^^ Spoke to ppl who went to Holfords Motors, in Spotswood and thats what they said.

Get another Nismo panel filter or a similar highflow one.

Keep your exhaust and I think that should be enough for now unil you driven it for a bit then start with the Power FC and boost controllers.

^^^ apexi is probably alot easier to find and quite a good price; nismo parts tend to be pricey just cos of the brandname.

definitely do the cat though; problem with high-flow cats is that they are quite large and physically at a point in the car which scrapes on speedbumps and driveways.

My friend has a gtt with a 5inch metal cat and he hates the day he bought it.

Cheers.

Yeah ill definately look into the cat, although it may be a little more $$ as ite exhaust is a twin system all the way to the rear box. See how it goes. Ill be very happy with around the 240 to 260 awkw mark once im finished. Think i better start saving the green to afford the FC boost controller and filters.

Thanks again for the advice guys.
