Hey,

After finally getting my R32 GTR from VIC to NSW rego and back on the road after recently purchasing it, I am now having a few problems with the car.

I will list the problems and hopefully someone can shed some light on them.

First problem - Car seems to be having slight missing issues when coming onto boost, problem is completely intermittent but seems to occur more after a long trip. Along with this the car seems to have trouble kicking over sometimes, will kick over first time everytime every morning but will usually have the problem after I have driven the car, left it for an hour or so then go to start it again. I was thinking spark plugs / afms need a clean???

Second problem - Cars 4WD light on dash is intermittently coming on, when 4WD light is on car is only running in RWD.. This is completely intermittent (Have 4WD / 2WD controller installed but its always on 4WD setting).

Third problem - This only occured on the way to work today, cars windscreen wipers just turned on whilst driving and were moving at a very fast rate (so fast it ripped the rubber off the wiper) then after pulling over I relised my lights, stereo, blinkers, electric windows etc had all died.. Car still seems to run fine just all electrics gone. After checking fuse box 1 fuse was completely blown out (marks in fuse box and was no longer connected when i opened box) It also looked like 1 fuse was blown in the engine bay fuse box aswell.

I know its hard to give opinions on what the problem could be on the electrical side of things but could all three problems be related? I am taking it to an auto electrician today but if anyone has any ideas on any of the problems I would appreciate any info given.

Cheers,

Mitch.

Can help you with your 4wd problem most common problem ever go to your boot on the right hand side remove the carpet panel and you will see a bottle with a high and low i garente it will be on low if it is you need to go get transmission fluid not 100% which 1 pm and i can tell you i have it at home and top it up.. if that don't work your better off with taking it to someone and getting your gearbox serviced .. Let me know how you go man.

Also with your first problem had the same thing happening to my car the spark plug leads were a bit lose i cable tied them tight and fixed it just check all your spark plugs first get new ones and cable tie the connection because they are old and they don't contact good and you should be right.

Had some of the same problems in my r32 gtr. The car had approx 4 electrical leaks and a few wires hooked up incorrectly, took it to an auto elec and with in 3 hours the car was running sweet.

+1 to that. My 32 GTR had the same electrical issues, but this was after getting a alarm installed. My parker light switch also melted, causing the parkers, dash lights and a few other items to no longer work!

Auto Elec is your best friend!

Thanks for all replies. I have taken my car to an Auto electrician so hopefully he can sort out those electrical problems out fairly easily. Will keep you informed as to what happens..

I will also check out spark plugs / leads and make sure transmission fluid in boot and make sure it is topped up 100%

Thanks again for input, any other suggestions that I can try would be also appreciated.. Will be sure to try any suggestions this weekend.

Cheers,

Mitch.

Sweet thanks for that, Ill get onto some if the gtr needs a top up.

Also regarding my electrical problems. Car is still at auto elec and he has mentioned that for my wipers to turn on a rapid speeds like they did it would most likely be a spike from the alternator.

But at the time my wipers werent turned on so some other electrical fault would have had to have cause this right? Does anyone know or have any insight into why first of all my wipers would turn on without touching switch and second as to why they would then go at abnormally fast speeds, after this as mentioned above all the electrics in the car stopped working and it blew a fuse in interior fuse box and 1 in the engine bay fuse box. I am hoping someone with some auto electrics knowledge can lay down what they may think the problem is.

Cheers again,

Mitch.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 馃
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
