i had a nice original torana for a long time.... i brought it from my wifes granddad... i almost regret selling it :(

you get more ppl looking at the classics thats for sure :)

nice car you dont want to know how many torana shells i wrote off at speedway over the yrs lol

I couldn't care less what kind of performance car a person owns. If they're a genuine car enthusiast and they want to chat about their car, or my car, then full credit to them.

But if they're nothing more than an arrogant knob-jockey, be they a Ferrari, Skyline, Torana, Porsche, Supra owner etc. I'd rather move along and find something better to occupy my time.

the guy i sold it to is going to put a 383 chev in it.... :( i asked about him putting a chassis clip in it and was told "It doesnt need it".. my guess is if he does it the car will be a twisted mess in 6 mths.....some ppl :)

i went for a drive in a turbo skyline.... big mistake as now im hooked :(

thats pretty much what happened to me mick...

little bit of a story to tell, here goes:

between 1998-2000 i used to help a cousin with his spraypainting and panelbeating business. Another family member of ours started bringing in jap imports - and he was sending them to my cousins workshop for body work before they were up for sale in the show room. The first grey import skyline i ever had a glance at in the flesh was a navy blue R32 GTSt that came into the workshop for some front panel damage repair - i had never seen one of these things before - (except for the ol bathurst cars on TV) - there were almost none of these cars on our roads at all - anyhow I took it for a drive after the repairs were done, and i was blown away... it was an absolute rocket! I loved it... straight up loved it. I had never driven anything like it...

We received plenty more work as they kept coming in from Japan; Silvia turbos, FTO's, 180sx, Soarers, etc.. but the skyline was always my favourite, loved the sound of em, the power, the looks, i was very bloody excited - bragging to my mates about these cars, they thought i was living in a shell playing too much gran turismo on the play station or something... little later down the track around 2001, I had money, me and my old man went and paid this importer relative of ours a visit, and I picked up the white 33 in my avatar. Never looked back! :)

before all that i was right into the classics, muscle cars and V8s. i still love it all, but the japanese force inducted inline 6's just won me over bigtime!

i have 2 cousins that have r33 GTS-T's and 3 other mates that have R33 GTS-T's and i love cruising with them in my GT-R i dont feel superior or up my self i feel equal there nothing better than going down a hwy with 3 white skylines in a row followed by a black r32 GT-R i respect all skyline drivers i just dont respect the ones in that try race me in a GTS-T i just laugh as if im going to race you off the lights as if im going to race period!

:D

My fiancees brother has a one family owned (2 owners) HR Holden in absolute mint condition. His grandfather bought it new and Paul inherited it as a project. It's now an absolute mint with a 350 Chev in it and tough driveline. You'd be hard pressed to find any fault in it. Even the old venetians are still on the back window!!!

He is one of the most dedicated car enthusiasts I know.

Yer on Toranas.

The value have sky rocketed over the past year or so!!

I still have my LH Torana. Was my first car... Had it sprayed, New custom interior, 308, 4 spd, extractors etc etc soon to have a 9inch diff.

Love it.

Was my first car and has a heap of sentermental value...

is that an S.A car???... plates say RHR-350.... if so ive seen it up salisbury way. looks and sounds the biz :D

good story Luke.........just remind me to check my odometer if I ever bring my car to you for repairs though :ninja:

That'd be wise Pete, lol; I wouldnt pass up taking a 34R for a bit of the 'after repairs test', ....to err...make sure no panels come loose in motion... lol

I hardly help out with my cousins work these days due to my own commitments, but he still receives plenty of work from that same importer.

Hardly any Jap imports today though, a lot of classic American imports - you can probably figure out who the importer is... :ninja:

keep that Torry Adz!!!! very nice looking machine you got there :P They are pretty much collectors items now on end hey

yeah I wish I kept my R/T 6 Pack Hemi Pacer and restored it....very rare now.

Paid $1700 for it when it was just 3 years old

Customline 9" rear end, triple webers and bored out to take 327ci Chev Pistons.

Hmmm, memories :P

I even had a handicapped run against the old famous Shotgun (only the oldies would remember that wheel standing Ford) back in the day when you were allowed to run up against the Pro Stockers.

Luciano yer i have no intentions of selling it.. Just a little sad to see it gathering dust in the shed and only brought out for a show here and there.

Yer i thought the SLR5000s and A9Xs would be the only collectable ones but Toranas are becoming harder and harder to get pushing the price of ANY Torana slowly up.

Thats hot mate!!

My neigbour has a 2 door and an american R/T charger.

Has about 7 Valients all up lol

awesome photo Pete!

true Adz; a good mate of mine is a torana freak, he's looking at picking up one of the old SS models with the 308s, and no joke - for a clean one, you're looking at least $20k worth!

    • Thanks for your insight, it being basically useless will impact my decision for sure. I thought it may help the engine breath better I guess. But then again, I have also been told that tuning an RB20DE is also not worth it. Exactly, we follow EU Regulations. There is a bit more leeway on older vehicles. My Porsche 924 came without a cat from factory and managed to pass, they still mentioned that I have quite high emissions on it though.
    • My apologies, I stand corrected. Thanks for registering to mention this! And thank you for actually reaching out to the council to clarify. This is the sensible thing to do and the opposite of what I was alluding you were doing. I may have seen too much outrage and hate being fueled on the internet and it has made me a somewhat cynical old man. Sometimes it is easy to forget that there are real people behind websites and accounts. In my defence, CarExpert and CarExplore do read quite similarly at a glance. I shall try and do better in the future. (Please stick around to get the latest scoops on dealing with old Nissan shitboxes )
    • Don't bother. The poor little RB20 doesn't make enough gas flow to challenge the flow capabilities of even the littlest cat, and you won't make any extra power, and all you'll do it soot up your rear bumper. Plus....is Malta not runing under Euro regs?
    • Hey Daniel, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting up for us at a really hard time I only knew SmoothLine through the forums, we never met as we are based in different states, but when he was most active on here he was quite a while back so not many of the current crowd might remember him. I am pretty sure he was active in the Queensland SQU club but that is defunct now too (times are changing and we are all getting older). Farewell SmoothLine!
    • Turns out depending on whether the car was equipped with TCS or not there are different signals coming to the dash, meaning there are different speedo clusters.  Wired in a speedo calibrator box from aliexpress and now works fine.
