hey guys

im in the market to get new wheels

currently using stock ones and massive gaps from the wheel to the guard

ive seem some of the jdm pics and i really like those aggressive lookin wheels

prob looking at te37 replicas

but the offset thing is a lil confusing to me, what would make it look phat and stick out of the guard a lil bit

without being too obviously illegal and get defected.

also are the offsets different for different wheels??

im after sizes like this

te37 replicas would not come with any sizes/offsets to give you the look you are after.

are you plannin on working on your guards? eg. pump/flare? or just a roll with the guards.

what size are you after? 17s?18s? also widths?

im after 17'' matte / black rims

um theres these te37 replicas for lik $800

apparently their offsets are +35 - 40

so thats small?? caz im not really sure with the whole offsets thing.

5x114.3 ? was thinkin of running em with spacers or something?

width im not sure. thats y i had to ask

wat usually gives the best look? size and width wise?

im not really the smartest guy wen it comes to wheel measurements.

and guards ill prob leave for now. lol

hey subie nice rims mate

but sry not the style im looking for tho

First picture of the R32 is my old car, those rims have huge offset and are a tight fit for standard R32 guards

Fronts are 17 x 9.5 + 17

Rears are 18 x 10 + 18

Stretched tyres to make them tuck under the guards

Fronts are 215/40/R17

Rears are 235/40/R18

You still need to roll and slightly 'pump' the guards to get them to tuck under, the way it sits though, in Victoria you would get raped as they are protruding out of the guards

wow u had a very nice 32 with massive dish wheels

i love em

and thx rekin for the advice.

so i should be looking at 17x9 with about +30 offset not looking at any major work on the guards to fill em out?

btw do u no if driftek's have the sizes that i want?

edit: also do i want the front and rear tyres to be same size? width and size wise??

im learning so much :D lol thx fellas

also wat do u guys mean rolling the guards?

or 'pump' the guards? i no what flaring is but these ive rarely heard

guard liners? :P lol

take a look under your rear guards on your car.

There will be a thin peice of metal.

Rolling involves flattening that peice of metal to provide more clearance for your rims.

Guard liners are the plastic liners found in your front guards.

you mean like this?

Nah, you don't want something like that. That's Mexican spec. hahaha  Maybe a little camber and it'll look better.

Look under your guards, if it's standard, it'll look something like this,

Those guards 'rolled' will look like this,

Anything really 'tough' looking is illegal these days. My rear wheels slightly stick out of the guards, not even that tough and they still got me pulled up. This is in a shit bomb of a car too. Just don't let the police see your car from behind and it should be okay...

doesnt take much to roll your gaurds, panel beater, wheel shop. good luck on your choice, driftek should come with the right sizes aswell.

a quick question, not trying to hi-jack just noticed somthing, if you flare your gaurds so as the rim doesnt actually sit out of them is it still illegal due to it being wider than standard?

Yeah, most likely will still be illegal. In Victoria, you can only increase your track by ~26mm. For the wheels to come out of the guards in the first place, they would have to exceed that limit. Most cops won't know that anyway.

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
