gdogzgtr
Today while performing Laser duties in my favourite spot on FTG Rd I caught a car for going 115 in 60 zone. To make matters worse for the driver is the fact that he was also driving whilst suspended. Just plain crazy driving if you ask me. Road works going on and within 100 metres of where I caught him it became 40 zone and taffic to complete stop as down to one lane. Subsequently I impounded his car. It was far from the GT3 I was after, was just a plain old early 90's toyota corolla. I hope nobody seriously thinks I was too harsh or has mercy for him. Just thought I would share. PAV34
Thats fair enough i guess. I'm curious, did he kick up a fuss? Was he young or old? Did he plead with you to let him go? Interesting to hear he's reaction... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242349-my-first-impound/#findComment-4226553 Share on other sites

htial
I got pulled over today... I turned off the Princess Hwy past Monash Uni Caulfield... ...through a round about... ...turned three corners (one with a green arrow) and pulled up at my place and an unmarked police car pulled up along side me... The guy wanted to write me a ticket for broken tail lights... ...until he saw them when I finally stopped... ...Then he changed his mind and wanted to write me up for reckless driving for not using my breaks... I'm lucky he was working two up because the girl talked him out of it... ...I wasn't speeding and was just lucky with the lights... ...and I change gears A LOT to speed up and sow down... I got skillz... ...Don't need tixets... And I'm fine with what you did... ...almost twice the limit... ...another 100 meters and it would have been three times the limit... ...Loss of license would be the order of the day... krzysiu
Congratulations, now you will have 4 hours worth of paper work to do... Guess you were in the attitude to just impound something after that GT3 got away to compensate. Maybe if the corolla driver hit and killed a close friend or family member you're attitude would be slightly different? jakez88
damn 115kms in a 60 zone is just plain stupid/dangerous...driving on a suspended license is more stupid...serves him right. good on ya mate. gdogzgtr
TBH I have wanted to impound a vehicle so I can learn/know what I am doing in future. As he is suspended that is a Brief/Court offence so impounding his vehicle isn't much more work than I would have had to do anyway. Only about 10 minutes of paperwork at time and waiting for tow to arrive. Much better situation for me than the GT3 would have been. The guy was in early 20's and wasn't happy about his car being impounded but understood. Never got angry or anything just not happy which is understandable. I have tried a couple of times before to impound for cars doing burnout and going sideways around corner but the S/SGT's on duty wouldn't authorise them. They like straight forward situations like this more than 45 km/h over on Laser is a certainty or suspended driver with priors after 31st July 2007. I just wonder how penalties at court would be affected as it's somewhat like they are getting immediately punished so I would assume that magistrates will take that into account and go easier on them. It's something we just don't know about. Police served the community well in this case +2 definately a idiot Just a quick question for ya gdogzgtr can the cops do anything if they pulled you over and you are on private property? I was pulled over just as i pulled into my mates driveway the other weekend. I wasn't doin anything wrong, just a routine licence and reg check. Some cops really hate skylines hey. gdogzgtr
Yes as far as I know we can enter property for intercept. Have no power to enter house or dwelling though. If you had run inside and not opened door can't do anything about it. If you had committed offence we could follow it up at later stage though. Hope that helps. I can't believe that people have time to just pull over and harrass Import owners. If I'm doing traffic duties I pull a car over every 10 minutes for doing 20+ over speed limit and when performing my general duties. I Catch offenders alomost every shift or have numerous jobs on the plate. LoL damn that is the typical no nothing officer ain't it...gdogzgtr did the right hting...i don't think he was compensating for anything...he simply stopped someone for doing almost double the speed in a roadworks area where there are workers walking around as well as heavy machinery an driving on a suspended license.. if i was in this guys position i wouldn't think twice about taking him off the road. pretty simple really..he broke the law and was seen doing it by the police. PAV34
I don't get what all the flaming is about. The bloke broke the law, twice in this case, so the officer had just cause to impound his car? Whats some people's problem??? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/242349-my-first-impound/#findComment-4227202 Share on other sites
