im probly going to get burned for this, but why are you looking at the 4 doors? - do you like the look of them or something?

back on topic tho - those are pretty resonable prices for 4 doors with that year model and those km's - if your looking for a coupe auto you wouuld be looking at around 14-16 for a GOOD one...but u can pick them up for 12ish now a days....which is bad for me becasue i have a tip 1998 coupe r34 with 80,oookms that is in fantastic condition but i wont get anywher near what i payed for it when i got it at the beging of the year.

and also - are u sure u want to get auto/tip ? i have one and ther is nothing wrong with it - still loads of fun - but i would still rather a manual...

thats my 2 cents - good luck! and if u have any questions about the tip coupe r34 just give us a yell!

thanks for the help mate

the four dours seems to be the cheapest available and i dont mind 4 doors if its cheaper, the doors dont matter to me so much as engine build, kilometers and non-shonkiness

i got my p's on auto cos i didnt have any manual cars to practice on and want the tiptronic so i get to choose when the gears shift not the car:P

Hiya,

I wouldn't be put off by the

i) Kms

ii) Price

iii) Depreciation over time

And so long as you're inspecting a high quality vehicle, my only concern would be

a) power delivery

b) fuel consumption

c) it's saleability later on when you're trying to sell a 4 dr compared to a coupe

That's my 2c. But all the best

I'd compare to other cars still tho' :)

Well thats what happend with me, i got my reds on an auto becuase we had not manuals, and when i had the money to buy a skyline i stiill had about 8 months of reds to go and i couldbt be botherd getting my p's again and i didnt want to wait (altho i think i shud have) for me to get my green's, but tips are still prety good, and if you get a shift kit they go just as hard as the manuals....

speaking of hows the consuption on a N/A auto r34??

thinking of fto(harder to get parts for as its not as common therefore more expensive to get, worse looking, less power, heard bad things off mates) or supra (expensive with jsut as good looks and power as skyline, older and non-tiptronic) as other choices

450 to a tank if u drive like a granny

400 if u drive normal with the odd bit of fun

anywhere from 300 to 350 for boy racer style <- which means you will either loose your license within a few weeks - loose your car due to tree collision or get kicked out of the forums for giving other skyline drivers bad names :)

i can only add my personal pref on the FTO and the Supra, i hate supras period and FTO's i wouldnt even bother having an opinion

No you won't - not if you want to keep your licence AND your car... This forum and the club(s) have a pretty good name for ourselves, so anything that flies in the face of that won't be tolerated.

If you really want to take your car for the odd thrash, go to an organised track day or the drags at WSID, don't do it on the streets. SAU-NSW organises and/or gets involved in quite a few off-street events so we can all have fun in our cars in a safe, legal environment.

Go get a commodore for that, we dont need that sort of crap on here :D

The best way to get the "odd bit of fun" is exactly what Nick said - come to one of our track days/events.

My mate had an FTO. His insurance was about $1000 more than mine, he had a lock up garage and a clean driving history. I park my car on a drive way and have had a licence suspension.

As for getting a tiptronic model so you can select the gears... you can do that with an ordinary auto box. 1, 2, 3, 4, D. My experience with tiptronic boxes is that it is a little bit of a gimmick. Personally I would learn how to drive a manual. Though, I say that when I have been driving maunal vehicles sinse I was 12 :D

I think the best way to decide on whether you want a manual or auto is to think about the environment where you'll be driving the car. I currently have a manual car and I loathe driving in heavy traffic and around town with it. Automatics are much better if you live in a built up area with lots of stop/start driving.

I also hate manuals when the occasional trip to Macca's Drive-Thru comes around - it's not easy changing gears and noshing on a burger or stuffing fries down your cake hole.
