CLASSIC ADELAIDE RALLY REPORT/SAU EVENT

Prepared by Daniel Inline 6 Student Number 100815354

640 words

1. Homepage of Event

2. Breif History

3. Brief description of what we are to doing

4. Potential Pit Falls

5. Survival Instints (food & drink)

6. The maybe people

7. The stop location

8. Things to bring

9. Bring your friends if you like

10. Potential Cruise

1. http://www.classicadelaide.com.au/

Is the webpage if you want more info on lists of cars entering and more

2. For those of you not familiar with the rally its not just old cars, last year had a 34 vspec and a couple of 360 Ferrari race cars rocking it and the Nissan Silvia off ns.com and even some modified cars twin turbo v8 commo and v8 escort gt40's f40s the list can go on all day. Best free day of racing Ive seen anyways and i go free to the clipsal every year

3. Were cruising to the spot I went last year with plenty of parking up on this grass hill and your standing near your car so no need to worry about it.

4. Bad things at this spot are you need to get there 30min early before they block the road and your trapped there until they finish like 4hours ish later the only way in n out during is a really bad dirt road no respectable skyline should be driving on although I did see a wrx take that route last year. Also with crashes and other delays there can sometime be 10min gaps between cars but most come down pretty close.

5. Were gonna do a bbq lunch and drinks (maybe not alcoholic as we still gota drive after) unfortunately the dohmar feast we were possibly planning had to be canned but im game for something basic like snags bread and drinks. If you want to have some give some cash to me or jenkies. Not sure how much we need from you but $5 sounds like a plenty safe amount. If theres drinks or cash left over ill divide it up and return to whoevers paid for it or sell off the remaining and split the profit (im an accountant Im good at math and not exactly short of change, your cash is safe :)).

Earlier the better with the cash people so I know numbers n such.

6. If you cant commit I think its time we got out the relationship :( there should be a school there cooking up snags n bread n drinks think it was $1.50 snag n bread and same for a can so you dont gota worry about starving there.

7. This is the spectating spot were taking a claim on, if you dont wanna cruise head straight here

STAFFORD RIDGE - SPECTATOR VIEWING AREA 5 - 1.45pm SATURDAY 22nd NOVEMBER

Enter the Spectator Viewing Area via Lenswood on Coldstores Road and stand left of Crofts Road. It's a great spot - you see the cars come out of a left hander, race towards you (you are standing on a 3-4 meter high embankment), then around a 90 degree right-hander and disappear downhill. UBD Map 112 C10

8. Every remember to bring fold up chairs!!!!!!! And sun cream but we can always share. Bring some soccer balls or whatever to chuck around as theres heaps of room near the back and we can expect periods without cars to happen.

9. Also ive invited a friends car club along, might be a couple of motor bikes as well with us but more the merrier I say. Feel free to invite whoever.

10. We currently looking at a lil cruise there or maybe after n see how we feel seeing as its gonna be a long day it will be a short 1 if any.

And I cannot stress enough the importance of driving extra sensibly near the stop, cops will be in attendance as well as kids n familys

finally apoligies for the length but i just wanted to cover all the details in the first post rather than having to dig through the thread for it and ive just finished 5000words of reports for uni. don't say i didnt put any thought into this :D

and also can anyone pm me if they can help with;

- bbq's or webbers should be fine to get 1 but if anyone has a kick ass 1 let me know

- shade or gazebo ( there's heaps of room for em)

Just a reminder Steve, import vs domestic dyno day is on the same day as this, if your still entering?

dyno day does sound good however these cars will be moving :O

depending on what time the dyno day starts could prob hit there before and cruise to the rally after :P

they used to have a rule no turbos and no 4wd thus gtr failing on both counts but that seems to have changed :) last time they had white vspec 34 n1 in there for good measure.

last time that pantera thing was nutz yellow was louder than a super car passing by, never heard of them prior to that day take it its american or something

its not the size of the post its the way you use it. vital info in there

A mate of mine had one many years ago, Leon Will.............Pete Hall used to work for him at Super Roo Spares.

They are an Italian car with a mid mount Ford 351ci Windsor V8........craaaaazy stuff!!!

Just had a look at the entrylist on the site, and the GTR is in "Thoroughbred Touring" Which means its not actually competing for honours, just driving around in a fast parade group.

I presume the competition rules of no 4WD still stands - although the last few years a black GTS-t has competed, and also last year there was Tim Possingham in the ns.com S13 silvia who managed 5th overall.

Incidentally Dan, that yellow Pantera was ran by Road & Track, not sure if theyre entering it again but I've seen that car down there on numerous occasions...

    • So we have most the interior back in, and for the first time with one OEM speaker hooked up. The 31 is running, driving and now tunes!!! Hahaha yet another step for the sub that sat 10m under for two weeks!!! unbelievable really 👌 lots of love work and not giving up on her. Seen so many youngsters part way less, and in way better condition. I’m stubborn, thinking another problem is just a hurdle to overcome, One at a time. IMG_9277.mov
    • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu.
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.
    • Sharing results from recent Liberty Walk R35 GTR, since they are still considered as somesort of a V36 Skyline. We do them turbos too. This are high flowed SS-1 models with ball bearing conversion done.  Car have managed to pull 485awkws @ 20Psi so far pushing limitations of factory built engine. The build list for R35 GTR enthusiasts as follow : HyperGear high flowed stock turbos in SS1 (G25-660 specs) Custom titanium intake pipes. Vspec performance titanium front pipes. Vspec performance 4" titanium exhaust. Upgrade fuel pumps. 1200cc injectors. Ignition coilpacks Hks intake plenum. Hks intercooler piping. Greddy intercooler. Greddy bovs. Top-secret coolant reservoir. Emtron ecu. Straight E85. Built gear box.
    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
