hey

i have a r33 rb25det sedan. i went to install a bosch 040 pump into so i can begin the next stage of power mods. (turbo, pfc etc) thinking it would be the same process as most nissans. pull out the cradel, slightly mod it and hose clamp the bosch in place. hmmm no.

now if you are familair with 33 4 doors, the tank is further forward then most import nissans, basically under the parcel shelf, also its plastic not metal. the other main diference is the fuel pump is not in a cradel but attched inside the tank and bascially impossible to get at. One option would be to drop the tank, requiring the whole rear cradel, tailshaft and exhaust to be removed. but that stil doesn garruanty that i can fit a bosch 040 to this tank.

what options do i have?

or what have others done in there modified r33 4 doors????

thanx in advance

cheers

Sounds very much like my 2 door r33.

Tank is plastic.

Opening to the tank is under the parcel shelf.

The Cradle that everyone refers to is inside the tank, not attached to the tank lid.

I had to reach inside the tank and pull it out. My tank was full of fuel, so I had to reach under the fuel to get it.

also, could any who has installed a 040 to there r33 please post up a picture of the pump mounted to the bracket for reference.

i to am interested to know what was done about the sock/strainer when using a 040 pump as they do not have a fittin on the pickup end, only a gauze.

matty

i did this the other week in my series 2 r33

it WAS.NOT.FUN.

i ended up just clamping the pump onto the end of the cradle which i cut the end off

and pushing the pump in as far as possible, the tank is an odd shape and the pumps diameter is too large.

good luck is all i can say

i just got my 040 fuel pump the other day and i have a 33 gtst s2...

do most ppl do this install theirselves or get a mechanic 2 do it... sounds like a major pain in the ass!

you guys need to harden up a bit.

044's fit in there simple as, so whats your prob with a 040?

attached is a photo of a r33 4 door set up with 044 on stock cradle.

go ro pirtek with the photo and say match this please,

then go to repco and get a efi v8 falcon fuel strainer and copy.

2 hrs start to finish and that includes going to the shops.

pretty much as above

undo fuel cover in boot, disconnect plugs, fuel hoses etc (if you cant undo the lid get a flathead and a hammer and give it some help)

pull out full pump assemble bracket thing - its just slide in and out with some clips

take off stock pump

bend the end of the bracket out of the way or cut it off

hose clamp bosch 040. maybe use some fuel hose so it doesnt make as much noise

slide assembly bracket back into fuel tank - this can be a bit fiddly. you have to manipulate it a bit (i got mine sitting down right near the bottom of the tank with no sock filter or anything.

reattach everything and close it all up.

also do the direct wiring mod thats in the DIY section.

ive done all this in my R33 series 1 sedan

and in my new R33 series 2 coupe.

both were pretty much exactly the same

thanx for all the info, and the dude who pm'ed me.

i got this all sorted now. made up a tool to easily remove and do up the big tank scew.

got the 040 in there nice and low. hav driven it well under 1/4 of a tank an no probs so seems pretty good. also did the direct earth mod aswel.

cheers
