Do you ever notice that if you're driving > 30mins that you get into a subconscious mind-set that causes you to...

i) pass a fixed speed camera and later on think, what speed was I doing back there?

ii) go past > 2 suburbs without noticing?

iii) even go towards a usual destination instead of your intended one?

As I age, I'm thinking it happens to me more often! :ermm:

I go into auto-pilot all the time...

When I started my new job it was in a completely different area to my old one but because I left at 7:00am and wasnt completely awake I drove to my old place of work 2 times in a row before it sunk in... 30kms in the opposite direction to my new job. :ermm:

The thing is though you are very aware of speed/correct lane/not killing anyone, as it's so routine your brain doesn't place it into long term memory, the fact you can't recall it is just that your brain has decided there was nothing memorable/special to keep.

Hahaha yeh i do that all the time. You just get so used to the normal routine.

Il get home and be like...umm...i dont remember going through (suburb i always go home through).

And driving to work on a sunday, ive done that a few times

Always check my speed too, probably as often as I check the road... so I'm safe there

but there have been several times where I headed to one place accidently... Just sort of zone out... I think it was always towards work too sadly :)

some people switch right off....today for example, i was coming up to an intersection, light turned orange, i pulled up slowly. the person in the lane next to me, however, was totally oblivious and went straight through the red. not just clipped it after it turned orange, i mean straight through the lights which had already been red for 5 seconds.

the miracle was whatever traffic tripped the lights must have gone in another direction, as no traffic pulled out onto this section of the road. only chance stopped an accident

nope i can't switch off, cant afford to loose my license again on purpose (like before) and i'm not going to loose it by accident,,,, always check my speed, always know where i am at any time and always know where i'm going.... always stop a couple of meters back from traffic lights so my front window lines up with the car next to me's boot.... never enter an intersection without checking that its clear even if i have the green light, i never rely on a gps and i always figure out alternative routes incase something happens, when i slow down i look infront of me and behind me at the same time, when someone drives behind me for a long time or drives too close to me for a while i purposely go to a roundabout and make it so i am then following them,

one lapse in concentration can kill you, i'm not ready to become a statistic.

not my fault im paranoid, dad's an ex 'D' who's since turned to the dark side and i sorta picked up his tricks of the trade..... and it works, never even had an accident, not even one thats not my fault

laugh if you will, it works for me....

edit* forgot to mention i always park next to a wall or a pylon in shoping centres so i reduce the risk of someone accidentally hitting my car with their door, keys or car...

I've got a stupid one that I picked up from driving the 32, because the clutch sticks half way up after changing gear. So now EVERY time time I push the clutch in and take it out again, I use the side of my shoe to make sure it comes up all the way. I've even done it mid slide after a big handbrake entry a few times :ninja:

I do most if not all that also. kinda sounds creepy now that I read it..ha. I still check for trains even thought the boom gates have finished and gone up. big intersections like the princes one at monash clayton campus i let the other cars go first before i do in case someone runs a red, abit selfish maybe but meh ive seen a few idiots run it.

What about when u have been driving on a road for years, your usual way to work or whatever. Then one day for some reason u actually look at some of the houses u are driving past etc and just go shit, as you wonder if they have always been lol

haha, if I passanger somewhere along a familiar route, I tend to take notice of things like that, that I wouldn't normally... Huge houses n shit :ninja:

my mate done it the other day

he remembered getting in his car and next thing he knew was pulled over by the police and all of a sudden started fraking because he didnt know why he had been pulled over

he just zoned right out

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
