Thanks guys, lots of sanding done and still lots to go

I'd love to see some pics of DOHC210's car, I suck at the hole computer thing to but you'll work it out after a few triple posts of random computer speak instead of the pictures you wanted to post

Is your motor an RB30/25 frankin motor? sounds awsome.

Adelaide's a long way from Lithgow guys, always keen for a road trip tho.

anyway back to it, car aint gonna paint it's self.

Cheers Dan

Details of the event in Adelaide are rather scarce at present. I read about it in the latest Zoom Magazine and contacted

Carolyn Kruger

Chief Organiser Skyline Nats

President Classic Skylines Australia inc.

She referred me to the www.classicskylinesaustralia.com website and they had info on their meeting that they just held in Winton Raceway in Vic. They will be updating their website re the Adelaide event in July 09 so don't hold your breath I have checked out their website and compared to this it is to say the least sparse, but may be worthwhile checking it out from time to time. They are also holding a Winton Track day on nthe 12th of September if you are interested.

Dan what is a frankin motor? I have never heard that term before. Am also working on getting a few piccies up for you guys so please be patient.

Hahaha, frankin motor as in frankenstein as in bits from different engines put together to create a monster :D

Checked out www.classicskylinesaustralia.com, pretty quite over there but hopefully it takes off.

I'm off to recover from sun burn/heat stroke now, It caused this today :P

wow, it's been so long......

Been flat out the last couple of weeks working at the new house/getting ready to move. Packed up all the Datto bits last night, still so much to do, but at least it sounds like a Datsun now.

Thanks guys,

Only thing I've done is put the twin tips on, been so busy at the new house.

Off to Darwin tomorrow for a much deserved holiday, then we move house when we get back. Hopefully the new stove/toilet/hot water/carpet is all done before we get back.

Well here we go, I'm about to embark on a low budget, big headf@#K, supercharged L6 skyline.

Starting out with a stock, unknown k's L24 in the C210 coupe = free (budget still in tact)

One 310? Holley 2 barrel carby = free (needs a rebuild)

One SC12 supercharger from an AE101 4AGZE corolla = $140

Fabricate mount/s for SC12 at work = free

Fabricate custom inlet for SC12 = free (pending 2.5" mandrel bend)

Modify factory alloy outlet for SC12 = free (cut, rotate 90deg and re-weld)

Fabricate adapter/plenum/enclosure for Holley = free

Will have to work out the rest as I go.

Here's some pics of the progress so far,

200x20mm flat bar over kill? yeah, back to 10mm

Image193.jpg

Mount for engine, Round bar for lower s/c mount, Small bracket for top s/c mount

Image194.jpg

It fits (yay)

Image197.jpg

Template for top bracket

Image195.jpg

SC12 inlet on engine side is a bit tight for space, will come out and up on a tight 90deg bend then over the top to where the air filter is. Well that's the plan anyway :)

Input and constructive criticism is welcomed,

Cheers Dan

looks like your well on the way!

there are some mean SC setups on hybridz.org, I have seen them mounted on the oil filter side of the block too.

getting the holley jetted correctly is going to be the hardest part i think... i got no real experience except when my uncle bolted together a similar setup on his sigma when i was like 16...

he could either have it running like a friggen missile on boost, but no low end driveability or idle...

hey interested in making some dump flanges at all?? looks like you know what youre on about!

Wow... a supercharged holleyed C210 is both unique and really interesting.

There is a guy in the Nissan Datsun Sports Owner's Club making a supercharged 280zx using the AC mounting brackets like you are. Can't remember much of the details other than that it will run straight LPG. Will post all the details after the next time I see him.

Also, I have a dirt-cheap Holley-to-L24 manifold in the garage if you need it.

Cheers, D

    • Well it does have a motor with the same DNA as an Accord V6 motor. The J30A is a successor to the Tiger rice cooker C32A motor found in those cars.
    • FD RX7 I would probably marry if legal R32 GTR is toughest NSX looks like it's made from leftover Prelude and Accord bits
    • When going to a suspension shop should I send them the default nissan settings or just let them do their own thing? I ask this because I have aftermarket rear camber arms and my car is lowered a bit (front end is basically stock after I change to those nismo bushes)
    • Ok sounds good, thanks for your help. Hopefully if I end up changing it to the nismo bushes I don't get that veering issue. I don't think there's a point in lubing up these bushes again. Weird that it it makes just as much noise with all the grease inside it versus without grease prior to removal. Bizarre.
    • Yeah, you don't need camber bushes on stock arms to make a car drive straight unless it's got another problem. F'rigsample, slide the thing into a kerb, bend the front subframe mounts a little....subframe is now twisted, shifted or otherwise in the wrong spot...and you need to do funky stuff with the wheel alignment to get it to drive straight. Maybe a little more caster on one side, or a little more camber. FWIW, I can have my camber off side to side by a half a degree or more, and either way, so more one side, or more on the other, and the car doesn't really want to pull to one side. It will definitely ride road camber differently, and want to track uphill (ie, towards the centreline when on the LHS of a normal crowned piece of road, like it should) or want to roll downhill (which it really shouldn't). But on fairly flat road surfaces, like the middle of a 3 or 4 lane motorway, a half a degree either way doesn't make a lot of difference. I sometimes do quite a few miles with my wheel alignment messed up, because I don't always get a chance to set it right again after a serious dismantling, before I have to drive it to work again. Like, a whole week's worth of daily shuffle.
