The whole idea of having after market gauges is to have accurate reading of engine vitals. It's my opinion that you cannot read the gauges easily from the drivers seat if they are placed in the dash like that, thus I would advise against it unless it's more for show. In regards to actually installing them, I would think it's a matter of getting a hole-saw and creating the correct size hole for the gauge and running the wires underneath the dash. Most stereo installers should be able to quote you if you feel you don't want to do it yourself.

This is a shot of them in my R33 GTST Series 1.

Not too sure how you would go with the Series 2 because of the airbags on the passenger side of the car, like suggested before they are there more for show then anything else, but you can still read them from the drivers side just not as easily if they were mounted on the pillar.

Defectable due to being in the crash zone of the passenger (passenger can hit their head on them in a crash, etc).

Goodluck trying to remove them and patching up the gaping hole they leave!

I've been pulled up before with the guages in the dash, never had an issue though (Queensland).
