i heard inside noise has to be softer than outside noise. I think this is so you can hear horns in emergency situations and also emergency services

That is my "common sense" belief, I only crank the tunes on long cruises. It also baffles me why people listen to ipods/mp3players through their little earphones while driving.. to me that is just stupid and dangerous.

I agree, I'd much rather listen to the RB music anyway :P It never gets old.

you will probably find its the noise limit for everything bar workshops if your outside the car it can be no more then 70 dB they can ask you to turn it down but like your exhaust they cant prove it without a dB meter but i know that the have been known to sticker cars on possible noise violations for exhaust and possible other faults on cars with no evidence just coz they dont like you

As long as you don't go past 11, I'm sure it's fine! :D

But seriously, as said above. I think it's really down to common sense and personal judgement. If you don't think you'd be able to hear an ambulance behind you, then turn it down a little.

It all depends on what you are referring to as loud music...If loud means screaming tweeters and ringing ears than yes it can be dangerous you wont hear other vehicles...However if its thundering bass you listen to.....I know from one of my cars I had a few years ago I had 4 x 15 " Orions subs in that and as defeaning as it was for some reason you could still hear other sounds around you very clearly..The Bass is such a low frequency that it doesnt cancel out other sounds....But I would be more concerned with industrial deafness...

Loud music comes under the noise pollution fine, which I think is 3 demerit poits and $150 ( though this is going back a number of years, so may have increased since) Years ago a mate of mine got for it with his loud stereo system.

How loud is too loud? Well I think it would be common sense really. If your mirrors are shaking to a point where you can't even see what's in them, if you're neighbours fence is rattling from the bass, if the contents in your house are shaking when you rock up home...I think then its too loud for sure.

Legal exhaust dB limit for 4cyl cars is something like 90db, so going on something like that I would assume a stereo that loud or less would be ok.

The apple instruction book says something about not using it while driving or operating other type of vehicles as its illegal in some countries.

Guys from what i was told when i was doing stereo drags a couple of years back, the noise is not allowed to be heard from inside a house while your driving past.

The thing is how and when is this allowed to be tested, is it windows up or down? is it with the house closed up or windows open?

Basically it is up to the cop and how must of a noob you are when they pull you over

(hint: one thing that works for me when a cop gives me shit, ask for his name and badge number, so you can file a report against them and i am yet to have my bonnet popped :P )

A little OT, but the cops have their last name and badge number... on their badge. Why do you ask for it?

I got pulled over once in Padbury in my Pulsar (that had full blown show sq system) for doing 60 in a 50 zone late at night, and before I drove off the guy goes 'and btw, I don't want to hear you music before I see your car come down the street'. I was playing Michael Buble at the time rofl.

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
