1/4 panels are the worse to do because u cant cut the paint anywhere so u blow it off in to the roof and u always going to be able to see it . if u try to buff it ( where it was blown off ) u 'll see it more the more u buff the worse it gets .when u paint any other panel u dont have that problem because u paint the whole panel , u cant do thwt with rear 1/4's as they dont have a finish .

riceee , it depends whats wrong with ur bonnet ( scrathed ,peeling, faded , damaged ? and remember if u need to paint colour near the guards u have to blend in to the guards so u nay have to paint 3 panels not just 1 . if the problem is in the centre of the bonnet then u blend to either side of it and clear the rest of the bonnet , u dont need to blend on the guards .

I have a Black Series 1 GTS-T and just got the bonnet and front guards and drivers side rear 1/4 done... the old paint and new paint even though it was the same colour stood out like a sore thumb.

I'm a perfectionist when it comes to the car and I have to get the doors and both other 1/4 done to get it looking right. I cutting the roof, boot and spoiler because they aren't in that bad a condition.

as long as the old paint is in good condition a good painter should be able to do a good match . u say its the same colour , how can it be the same colour ? unless the same painter painted the rest and had some paint left over it cant be the same .

when painters mix paint they have a formula that paint manufacturers give them and it tells them what colour tinters they have to use for a particular colour ( the car has the code on the id plate ) then they use a machine to accuratly disperse the amount of each tinter as per formula . ( some colours may have up to 7-8 diff tinters )

the end mix should be close to the paint in your car ( colour changes with age a little too ) now the painter has to eye match to bring it close enough so u cant tell the diff . metalic paint is easier because u can blend it and then clear the top , with solids ( none metalic or mica ,u cant do that ) so the match has to be a lot closer .

dont forget u get what u pay for though , dont expect to pay 200-300 to paint a bonnet and expect the painter to spend 1 hour to match the paint . in your case as u painted half the car they should have done a better job though .

For anyone in Sydney, there's a guy called David who runs a mobile service for touching up scratches. I think he pretty much covers most of Sydney. I had a scratch on my bumper and he buffed it out and resprayed the whole bumper for $100. Looks perfect to me. Only thing is that he can't fix up metallic or pearl colours. My Skyline is just a flat red so he was able to do a really good job. His mobile is 0410 668 793.
