Hey guys im thinking of buying a V35 coupe (auto) and I want it to be my daily driver but i Dont know if its the sort of car that can be a daily driver.

Here are my main concerns.

1. Fuel consumption, must be under 12 Liters (granny style driving) mainly because I don't wanna stop twice a week to fill up. I swear to god if anyone says if you care about fuel dont buy a skyline cause i will hunt you down.

2. The whole jap buttons and jap sat nav etc etc any work arounds for this, cause i dont want a semi functional car. I want everything or almost everything to work.

3. How reliable are they as a daily driver.

4. Dealing with B roads. How much difference is there between the 18 inch wheels and I think the other ones are 16s on crappy roads. Comfortable, uncomfortable, not for every day :thumbsup: pick one. ahahaha Because i will get one with the 16's just for extra comfort.

5. Finally, can it be quiet if you drive softly, is the auto smooth, wind noise loudness? and in general how well does it block out the every day sounds of traffic.

In short, yes perfectly fine as a daily and the sat nav/tv can be converted for a price.

essentially a 350z in Skyline clothing, seats 4 and is a fraction of the price of a Z

I've got two of these in the sedan :thumbsup:

Alex, probably about as good a choice as can be made on a budget.

I've been considering a 350Z version 3 convertible. The early models were harsh in the suspension, but the latest model is sweet and has a superb engine. On the basis of logic that all good things in the zeds come from Skylines first the earlier V35s would be pretty nice for a daily, easy on fuel if you control the right foot and sporty enough when you need it. I was looking at the 350GTs but decided I'd take a splash in a drop top for a while, unless I go a V8 Cima....

Yeah im really cconsidering getting one, cause they turn me on :thumbsup: Now this could be a personal taste thing but I actually like it better then the 350z inside and out, sorry if that pisses someone off, but to me it just looks better I dont know why it just does ;) Thanks the for the link n15m5o im going through it now.

Took my Sedan to NSW few months back..got me there with one full tank...800kms from an 80L tank. Everyday driving (combination of highway and city) nets me approx 650 to 700kms with the occasional squirt here and there :thumbsup:

The 5 speed autos are extremely smooth and the torque would leave my previous 34 GTT dead off the line.

Yeah the whole servicing thing makes me squirm, its such a rip off. Thats why i like imports cause i dont have to take it to dealers because when people buy them they don't expect log books and im pretty hand with the tools, (but i won't touch electrics lol).

After reading some threads the CVT is starting to concern me there are some real issues if the box dies as in cost wise. And im not buying a sedan cause last time i bought a r34 sedan and i swore from that experience that i will nevery buy a skyline sedan again lol. People just like the coupes better, makes it easier to sell.

Also, how much am i looking at to get everything converted to english and get the xenon system set up again. And I will probably ask chris rogers to do it, he seems to be the only person who should do it lol.

What about a maxima, i have a love hate relationship with them , i know they extremly comfy and spacious and then im like this is sweet, but then i see some old couple towing a caravan and im like that doesnt seem like a car for me ahahahah.

Yes, stay away from the CVTs, stick with the 5spd Auto

Pricing, PM Chris as he does majority of the work on a lot of the 35s that come through compliance.

I hope I read wrong, but do the v35 coupes not have cruise control. Seriously wtf, why must the skyline always be missing cruise control.

Oh man i finished reading the whole v-series thread and i dont think i want a 35 anymore, there just to much stuff that I would wan't to change/upgrade and I just don't have the time to screw with it.

What are some other good cars that will fit my requirements. Cheers.

Stuff to change/upgrade - Thats called modding and is part of the experience and fun of owning an import or any car for that matter.

If you don't have time to "screw" with it then you are probably better off with a Maxima :)

Unfortunately, I agree. Even if your not looking to stick within the Nissan family. Hope you like front wheel drive.

Well nissan is in my blood now and I try to stick to it I just trust it, because every car we have pretty much had in australia (my whole family) has been a nissan, and they have proven to be reliable and maintenance costs are low (especially the ones that use the chains and not the timing belts). And for the front wheel, rear wheel argument lets just say the last time i had a rear wheel drive i made friends with the gutter (enough said), so i dont really care, im not planning to drift it or anything.

Anyone got any comments on the maxima all i know is that its super comfortable and it looks ok (cause its a pig and i like cops lol).

Or any comments on something else instead of the maxima.

With regard to the Cruise Control issue, more and more manufacturers are falling into line with current trends in Europe to not offer Cruise on their cars due to reports that people (really dumb people) have been having accidents by driving into the back of car they are following. All the new Fords coming out of Europe (Mondeo and Focus) do not have cruise and it isn't an option either. The high end Mercs and BMW's still offer it as an option, but the buyer has to sign a waiver stating they have been informed of the "problems" associated with using Cruise Control.

Thats lol, and manufacturers that don't release it won't be getting my money, because i like to take a couple of long trips every year and its just so much easier with cruise control.

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.

    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
