I love skylines always had and always will! I had one for gods sake, sadly circumstances have forced me to sell it...

I mean i used to cruise with you guys back in the skyline days, and now that i've got a different car it cant be posted on here for some rather stupid reason. Shall i just ask the OP's to delete my account :P

My intention wasn't "hey look at my clio i can beat you all up in the hills"

cheer up guys :(

Just give him a break guys... he used to be a Skyline owner and now when he had to sell it he just wanted to give you guys a bit of an update about what he's driving now. Don't see anything wrong with that. Some of you guys would start a new topic just to say that you're bored and now you're so shocked cause someone started topic about other car than skyline... geez

Anyway, if dovla can drive, this froggy girl's car would hand your arse to most Skyline drivers on here through Chain of Ponds :P

these little cars don't require as much skill and experience as high powered rwd! so to amatuers like me it'll run rings around me! i know for a fact when i get into a little fwd like a ET, starlet i can drive it alot faster than my skyline! the car is predictable but of course in the hand s of a pro it'll be different

mate i love these little cars,

so much fun.

and when your near the edge. under steer is so much safer in a average driver then over steer.

Plus look at the mods he has done. Quality components.

The styling of these cars is very personal opinion. But cant deny the quality is there.

So what point are you making? That I'm right? :P

dovla, I reckon your car's great - when I get some decent rubber on the Civic Type R, I'll do a hills run with you some time.

Do they make them for men?

I kid.... awesome for a FWD pocket rocket! And the fuel savings would be handy too. GOnna sound nuts with the ITB's too. Maybe look for a set of angry cams too....

its not how you stand by your car, its how you race your car.

It's not how you race you're car.... but how you stand next to it beforehand.

sorry if i got your nickers in a not,was just saying that instead of starting a thread asking for different comments it could have been posted in the other thread about getting to know sau members,my brother has a turbo getz with over 200kw so im used to little cars, wasnt saying i didnt like your car, just think that threads should really be about what the site is set up for, otherwise we just get a whole bunch of waste of time threads, and we wont get any new members that have things to offer, just my opinion on the matter bro no hard feelings

+1 for letting the kent post on the site, he use to own one, is an enthuiast and wanted to share with you his car, not be a wanker and be like oo i beat a 34 gtr with 100,000awkw through the hills!

but not a huge fan of the little matchbox, as said quality parts upgrades, but its not for me, each to their own tho!

A friend and ex-work colleague of mine owns a Renault Clio Sport Cup 182. It's a great little car, looks quite good in the flesh, and certainly would surprise a few people, with it's capabilities.

And anyone who doubts the fun that can be hand in a small little Euro' based hatch needs to take a quick spin in a GT / TSI VW Golf, don't let the 1.4L capacity fool you, the TSI (VW speak for twin charged - yes, it's turbocharged and supercharged) engine is a little ripper. The way the little FWD GT Golf can rocket off the line had me laughing my arse off quite a few times! Peak torque of 240Nm from 1200rpm to 5000+rpm, in a small capacity yet lightweight package, equals plenty of economical fun.

I remember reading a wheels article on the Clio and they had nothing but praise for the little beast. Not my cup of tea but if everyone liked the same car we would all be driving bombadores or falchoons. I actually quite like the look of the Megane also not a bad looking bus in my eyes be good for the Mrs. Nice choice in hot hatches mate must be fun to punt in the twisty stuff.

    • So next year I am looking at upgrading from my VE SS bomadore ute to something more refined.  I wanted to stick with a V8 but not anything German or Australian, either a coupe or a sedan. So if I wanted anything newish that limited my options to either the Lexus RCF which I quite like. But with the price they demand and a kid on the way a 2 door coupe is probably not going to be the best idea. The next best thing would be the ISF but the newest models are 2014 and commanding over 60k and even the older 2008 models in ok condition starting around 35k is kind of bullshit. So I figured if I could not have the noise I could perhaps make do with easy power. Enter the infinity Q50 or Skyline equivalent. The price difference between the 300 and 400hp models seems a bit crazy. Right now there is 300hp Q50 one on carsales from a dealer with 61km for 27k drive away. If I wanted to get a 400hp Red or 400R car the prices seem to start at 43k From my limited research it seems that the only differences are that the 400r/Red Red runs more boost and a more aggressive tune. There are are turbine speed sensors on the turbos. Has 2 pumps for the water to air intercooler. Runs an engine oil cooler. I'm guessing that the exterior trims might look a little more sporty as well. I had a lazy look for upgrades to bridge the gap on z1motorsports They have kits that upgrade the water to air heat exchanger as well as the coolant pump which should give a non Red/400r better intercooling temps than the stock Red/400r. I added an engine oil cooler with a thermostat as well to try and make things as close as possible. Obviously the ECU is going to need a tickle. Having not done much in the way of research they also sell a ECU flashing tool with pre loaded tunes that are supposed to boost the non Red/400R by 100hp which adds 1k USD to the cost. The total cost of the parts @ the current time including shipping and taxes worked out to be $4350 AUD. Personally I would rather get the car tuned on a dyno which would probably add more cost Assuming the worst that you got a workshop to install the new parts I would guess no more than 5 hours would be required in the worst case @ 5 x $150 per hour = $750 So the total cost could be around $5100 So for easy number 5k + 27K = 32k I guess that would leave some change left over to swap out the open diff and fit a LSD Any thoughts?
    • Right, not sure why I thought it to be a lean spike. It might be fixable with modern card-style hot film MAFs which have some design features to avoid counting reversion flow but I've never tried it myself.
    • I did not realise this, I'll contribute more and earn my stripes and retry later.
    • I'm only going to hassle you for posting links to images. It's against my policy to click links that could be some nasty payload. Sadly, you need to make 9 more posts before you can just stick the images directly in a post, unless @PranK sees this and bends the rule for you.
