anyone have an Idea on how to do this?

I have massive scratch marks on my window that apparently cant be buffed out because it will shatter. If anyone has got this done how much did they pay and if they did it them selfs how much work is involved?

Hey man!

Its caused by the a few sponges, which is suppost to allow the window to slide up and down smoothly but as time goes the sponges turn hard and become hard dried up brisle brushes which leads to scratching.

I have not removed my window before but I have had to change my electric window mechanisim which requires fiddling around with the window.

Remove the iner door panel and you will see the window mechanisim, the one that allows the window to go up and down lead by metal wire.

There is an attachment or hinge and the window is bolted to that.

Un bolt it and slide the window out.

You could take it to your mechanic or take it to O'Briens windscreens and they could replace the window for you.

hey, its actually not as hard as it looks. first time around took me about an hour. now it takes about 20 mins.

its much easier to do with the door off (taking the door off and putting it back on is a bitch) but it is doable with it still on the car.

basically, take the door trim off and then take the plastic thing off. there are two gold nuts at the top of the door and two at the bottom of the door. this takes the whole window and motor mechanism thing off. once you get that off, you can get to the bolts that hold the window onto the motor mechanism thing. then you can slide the window out the top of the door.

note: be careful that you don't drop the window into the door

hope that helps
