Hey guys,

I have had my 33 for a year now. It came with whatever is on the car now.

After a few months of owning it, i chopped out the middle muffler/resonator and replaced it with straight pipe.

I have no idea what the rest of the exhaust is, or even what size it is, or if it's stock. :bunny:

Could you guys let me know if it's a catback/stock, what size piping etc.

I've been in a few skylines with straight thru piping (no mufflers :) ) and love the sound, if i chopped off the muff and just had pipe, or a canon, would i get a similar sound, or would i need to spend more money for audible bliss?

Stock dump/front

As to what size, the easiest way to tell would be to use a set of venier calipers and measure it.

I don't have any calipers, Might do the tape measure around it and divide by 3.14159 trick to work it out tomorrow or something.

So given this exhaust, do you think i would notice much performance difference if i got a bigger dump and front pipe? or should i get a bigger intercooler with the money?

Not that i have any money, just trying to get an idea of where this exhaust is at, or would it be a "better off replacing the whole thing" job?

You wont gain any noticable power from a intercooler, but you will have the potential to make more power in the future as the stock smic wont be limiting you, however if change the front pipe and possibly dump (the stock dump isnt too bad in my opinion) you will get more of a gain for the money than buying a fmic.

Standard dump and front pipe, cant tell what cat you have, looks like a cheap 3inch mild steel cat back system made by an average exhaust shop

you'd definately get more gains out of replacing the dump and front pipe at this point in time over a fmic kit.

Cool, thanks for the help gentleman

I guess a front pipe / dump pipe replacement is my best option.

Is this something any exhaust shop would do, or shoul i grab one online and install it myself or what is the best bet there?

I'll do a forum search now, but if anybody had any advice they wanted to add :)

Hey guys, for a stock setup like mine, would i want one like this

http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=252&page=2 with the one long opening on the turbo side, or one like...

http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=252&page=3 with the two holes in the turbo side.

I'm guessing once i get that, i just grab a 3" high flow cat and i should have a epic exhaust setup?
