My tip is dont be stingy. I had the worst tyres on my stock rims, and I lost it soooo many times in the wet, just from turning a corner without acceloration. I now have tyres worth over $250 each and they are a HUGE improvement. The car will now corner faster then what I'm prepared to take it, even side stepping the clutch in the semi-wet is difficult!!

I wouldnt reccomend the Sumitomos I have on my car, purely because of the price. However, if you have the money, go for it!! Otherwise, go for the most expensive you can afford, without going over the top like I did. So many people forget how important tyres are, they are what keep you on the road!!

I love the Sumitomos, and only paid just over $800 including a wheel allighment because of a trade price discount, however it doesnt break traction like the old ones :banana: And they're too expensive to burn! Never again :) But they are fantastic for the main reason why I bought them

i was thinking about putting a turbo on, but my engine is like amazing and ive never had a problem with it so i dont wanna thrash it and ruin it :)

I was thinking the same thing, but costs too much to convert. Play around with your car for a bit, and when you get bored upgrade!!

At least you dont need to worry about boost kicking in when its wet and sending you out of control!

And I wont be the only NA on cruises :banana:

Best tyres i used on my 33 last time was the Bridgestone Potenza G3's... Man those f**king tyres stick to the road even when its really wet! I only started sliding around when theres only like 50% tread left..

They don't come cheap though.. if I have not mistaken I got a set for about $1400+wheel alignment 2 1/2 years ago...

Federal 595SS's are good tyres for a good price, I pay retail of under $200 a corner from a local tyre joint. Oh and they take quite a hammering too :cheers:

I had these on my old 33 a couple years back..

I have the 595 RS on this car, very nice but cost around double the 595 SS.

    • Is there a significant price difference between the Evo/gtr/350z brembos vs the F50? Looks amazing.
    • I was actually being a tightarse at the time LOL... My OCD is tickling me into running a 2nd 8AN Teflon hose all the way down and removing the 2x OEM hardlines. My other side of my brain is telling me to run 2x hardlines front to back (also acts as a fuel cooler, so win win).
    • As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had some trouble with the Silvia's brakes dragging back in 2023. I managed to sort it out then, but the same problem came back to bite me late last year. Just take a look at the picture – I had a feeling the handbrake was acting up again, and I was right. Anyway, I'd been wanting to upgrade to bigger brakes for a while. Not that the Silvia's brakes were bad, but it was more of a "want" than a "need", you know? It was funny, though – at the time, I couldn't find any Evo Brembos, 350Z Brembos, or GTR Brembos for a decent price (of course, tons of them popped up online after I already bought my kit!). I ended up going with an F50 Brembo kit, which came with adapters, brake lines, 330mm rotors, and top hats. The F50 Brembo caliper was used in a few other cars too, like the FPV. I also decided this was the perfect opportunity to ditch the Silvia's ridiculous rear brakes and that awful handbrake (some of you were definitely right about that!). I picked up some R33 calipers and all the necessary bits – rear drums, backing plates, and new hardware to refurbish the calipers. Of course, it wouldn't be a project without a few hiccups. Turns out the brake master cylinder was playing up and basically (to put it simply) keeping the brakes engaged. I had it overhauled, and after some adjustments, everything was working again. The whole process took a while, as you can imagine. To top it off, the front right wheel bearings were shot and needed replacing too. This is a rare occasion where I'm posting an update while it's all still fresh! These pictures were taken just this afternoon.
    • I was just going to say that it's good to see you picking up the pace again. Hope the surgery goes well. More downtime just means more time to come up with new ways of digging a deeper rabbithole  
    • How do they compare in size? I have the Yaris coil packs in mine and they work fine. But they are either bigger or sit differently so the engine cover doesn't fit anymore. Not the end of the world but not great either. Do the R35 ones sit flush?
