Have an R35 on pre order and am keen to explore wheel options prior to April. have been looking through all the international forums and have many ideas.

Anyone out there able to contribute information on reliable suppliers of wheels? Brands like HRE, BBS, Rays etc seem to offer good quality and fits for this model (though I am crapping myself about the prices from my estimations)

Am liking mesh and dish in a wheel at the moment, maybe something like the LM BBS (likely Not avail) or similar depending on fit

Have been burnt before on a set of high end jap import 3 piece wheels for my STi when the supplier went bust and I damaged a wheel.......

The Tuners Group (they're now a vendor on here) are the official importers for HRE. Drop Adam a PM.

RAYS, being as popular as they are, are quite easy to get from any of the reputable dealers straight from the factory.

also interested in exhaust upgrades. being new to the nissan seen in aus, is it likely local tuning groups will develop local exhaust options? seems to be some good JDM options out there but expensive ++. I like the reports on the AMUSE STTi extra system

Hi handbrake, we were talking about R35 GT-R wheel options on another forum tonight - thought you may find this of interest ... here's an excerpt from that discussion ...

It turns out 18" TE37s will clear the Brembos on the R35 GT-R.

So some guys in the US ran the car back to back with the stock 20" wheels and tyres, vs 18" TE37s shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. 3s a lap faster on a 1:30 duration.

mg7033eb1.jpg

The OEM tyres, being runflats, require a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System to inform the driver if he does get a puncture so they can slow down. Runflats make it less likely that you'll notice you've lost a tyre since there's less deformation and thus vibration/noise, unless you go Donut King Targa Tasmania style and peel them off the rim.

There's an TPMS sensor in the rim that transmits back to the car. Break that connection and the car can't tell the pressure inside the tyre, which then has a panic attack and goes into limp back mode.

Transfer the TPMS sensor over to the new rims, and you're sweet.

Previous Nissans (like US model Z33's) have TPMS systems but they've never tied back into the ECU in this way so it took people a little while to figure it out.

Adam you're right - they need more dish.

If you've got pumped guards, and the GT-Rs always do, you need to have a bit of dish (or at least a concave spoke face) to give it that look of phatness.

In isolation those P40s look good, and they'd look great on a car where the flanks drop straight down on the guard without flaring, but we have to have dish!

yup. have to agree about the dish. Those HRE comps look good. Although those black p40 wheels would look good on the gun meta. Maybe matt black mesh centre and polished black rim on the comp version would look good on the gun metal (I really like the dark wheels on that colour). their website looks promising, but are HRE that customisable?

HRE multi-piece wheels can be made to order. As long as it's physically possible in their construction process, they'll do it.

It's one reason why I'd get HREs if I was to replace my wheels (again). If I find a design I like, I can get the colours exactly how I want them (both the barrel and the spokes) and I believe you can do custom offsets as well. I'm not sure if HRE specifically will do it, but some US guys who do 2 piece wheels let you pick your offset (rather than having to choose it from a list of available).

Yup have been on that forum hunting information. Plenty of reading.

Lots of information from varying quality sources of experimental wheel and tyre sizing options.

HRE now have a carbon fibre Barrel they are working on ? 21 lbs per rim

Hi Mark,

Yes they are the new HRE Carbon Series wheels

large628.jpg

large629.jpg

HRE Wheels has recently announced this new line of wheels called the Carbon Series, which will be available from January.

They are an absolutely mindblowing wheel - simply amazing, and we're incredibly excited about getting our hands on a set asap.

The strength of these new wheels is completely mindblowing. As it says in a quote from HRE Wheels COO Alan Peltier on our site ...

We've written an article with a bunch of photos of the new wheels, which you can find on our website at ...

http://www.tunersgroup.com/TunerWire_Live/HRE_Carbon.html

I think we just found a new set of wheels for our Time Attack project car :P

- Adam

I think they need a gunmetal/dark grey spoke colour to compliment the carbon
